uktrailmonster, I've not skied the Le Fer myself but a number of my customers have 'em/love 'em & snowshepherd raves about them.
They are a cracking good piste carving ski, but not for the faint hearted. The tails do not like skidding at all, so no lazy cruising about on these puppies.

uktrailmonster, sounds really similar to my set up of Titans at 80 and REv 105s with a little rocker and similar sidecuts...
I had my eye on Titans as my first choice piste ski, but took a gamble on the Le Fers when I found them on sale at the end of last season. Pretty similar dimensions.

Just finished mounting up this great two quiver for the missus
The new Whitedot Ranger CarbonLite mounted with F10 Tours shared across Storm Inferno piste skis using Quiver Killer inserts. The extra height of the walk mode on the F10 acts as a great riser plate on a piste ski. The white plates are Vist 2mm plastic shims under the toe to level up the delta angle. The Ranger CL's (in 168cm) & the small size F10's weigh in at just 2555g per ski.
Rishie, I didn't see any "manning the up" !!
I did hear lots of whining n snoring though

Hey Ali, fancy seeing you here! Any trips planned for next season? Alistair and I have been talking about a trip out (UCPA style) in march. And maybe another couple in January.
Ok, I did snore a little. There was a lot of manning the up for sure, you just didn't get to see it. And let's not forget Master Henry's daily ski retail therapy!

She's now on the hunt for red ski pants
Hmm. First REAL pictures I've seen of the Rangers. Tail looks ace. Width/rocker profile looks ace. Will reserve judgement until/unless I get a chance to ski them, but that's a lot of tip... Could do with a bit more taper..? Nothing to base it on really, but looks a little hooky.
OTOH, since this thread got resurrected... The Bibby got changed. More bi-directional, wider, not what I wanted. The only change I would have made there, was a longer, lower rocker and a stiffer tip. I'll I get a chance to ski the new pair, but I have a feeling the new 0N3P Billygoat will by next ski of choice for EU (after 13/14, 'cos I don't have any money left!).

clarky999, it's the tip shape that's tried & tested across Whitedot's whole range - definitely not hooky

^ Yip - The WD skis have way too much sidecut for my personal tastes (though some people love them).
112mm under foot means the tip is about 140mm.
The widest point is far enough back that they don't "hook up" as such.
BUT... the ski tip is massive and does feel unwieldy when you try and throw them on edge.
Really liked the Director (different design) and the new Ranger looks like a good addition to their range- a touring option was missing from the line up.
Though again it looks like to much sidecut + giant tip for me - but some peeps will love them.

Ranger dims are 138-108-119mm for the 168, 177 & 186cm lengths.
Sidecuts are: 168cm - 21m / 177cm - 24.5m / 186cm - 28m
The 195Pro length is 142-119-124mm with a 30.5m radius

^ Fair enough - the tip is *much* smaller than the Preacher (which I dont like - IMHO there is no point having massive side cut on an off piste ski.)
Ranger looks like it might be worth a whirl though.
WD Preacher - 155/112/133
vs.
WD Ranger - 138/108/109
Movement Goliath - 135/108/124
Dyna XXL - 132/108/122

Apologies but I quoted the original prototype specs for the longest length - it's actually a 195cm, slightly wider & a slightly beefier construction. I've edited my above post accordingly.

Hi sorry late to the thread, have to agree the first few turns I did on the lefer almost spat me out due to the tails, , they are pretty cool tho, the ski test vid I did for the 2014 range is on you tube and the Lefer is the first ski I pick up, if you listen carefully on the lefer section when I am doing some faster turns and the text says watch out for other skiers ! at 0.41/42 you will here the snow contact go quiet for for a moment then a whoosh at 0.44 when I touch back down, hardly noticed I was in the air for 2 to 3 seconds

As I might have mentioned earlier in the thread, I replaced my old 165 Dynamic slalom carvers with a pair of 177 Le Fers during the last season. They are a fair bit lighter than Dynamics and I loved them from the first run, I used them in the Alps for a couple of days and in Scotland for three days at easter and they were a blast on everything from bumped up new snow to heather .
The only downside was that mine came with a set of Marker bindings that are a bit plasticy; I managed to break one when I failed to land a jump off a smallish kicker Big thumbs up to Edge & Wax though who posted a replacement binding to me straight away

Am going to modify 2 ski quiver for the coming season... Needed more bad assness for on piste usage and swapping the 177 Head Titans for something quite a bit stiffer on the on piste focused ski.
either going to be Head ispeeds 185 113/66/94 R19.1 (already have skied em and love em) or the Rossi 9GS 180 118-72-100 R17.8 perhaps a bit turnier and easier in the bumps and variables ??

Just looks to me like the nice subtle slarvy-looking tail might be dominated by the much wider tip; it looks like it'll want to be coming across the fall line, and the tail loose enough to let it. I prefer a ski that's happy to chill in the fall line until I tell it to turn, rather than always wanting to turn.
The subtle, straighter Director/Redeemer shape speaks to me much more than the Ranger, but horses for courses I guess.
Also clearly this is all totally uninformed speculation based purely off a picture!! Which is obviously exactly what ski forums are for

I'd agreed with you if it had a mid/high teens turn radius (like the Preacher) but with the 28m radius (186) it's perfect.
