That blue wasn't gentle. It should have been graded a black. Anyway, had I been on form, I would have been doing it backwards, using neither a helmet nor pole straps, carving rails on my 100 underfoot pow beasts. Natch.
I'm insulted by your honesty.

There are "givers" here and there are "takers"....doesn't take a very hard look at the OPs previous posts to work out that they conform to the latter, I'd be surprised if there was any response to this, but come November, advice may be required again? Maybe better to get info on "slope conduct" rather than transfer advice.

Not a troll, just a grumpy old man being grumpy for grumpy sake . . . either he was stopped around a blind bend or he went without control around a blind bend . . . whatever way you look at it he was the claiming to be the better skier so all his woes are his alone to bear.

Have you ever seen a snowploughing beginner panic, totally forget about turning and start accelerating down the fall line in an ever more desperate snowplough? They don't reach Didier Cuche speeds before they wipe out but some of the speeds attained can be impressive.

Not a Troll.
Evening everyone, my post last night was to point out and try to understand why people offer advice on a forum when in reality they do not have the skill or ability to be capable of giving said advice. If anybody had read my post it would be obvious that the plougher didn't collide with me, my injury was in avoiding him and his friend and to develop my point further a pair of ploughers on Les Bois is not really sensible.
Now I've ruffled a few feathers and that was never my intention because I am a man who is very happy with his life, but I have to ask what fragility did I touch. Why the visceral, personal attack on me I don't know any of you equally you don't know me, so why the personal remarks re, age, past innocent questions I have asked and even a SH veteran posting a spiteful comment on one of my previous posts.
If you trouble yourselves to go back and read all the posts particularly the reference to the transfer thread hopefully will see that collectively you behaved disgracefully like a pack baying and slavering dogs. As a final rebuttal I am not grumpy, in any way, the accident happened, I got back to the UK and am recovering so on balance the world is good.
Happies
Keith

Ah right, so your one of the transfer idiots mates. Ive got it. So let me get this right, snowboarder infront of you, going slowly and you avoid him then crash? You should have been looking further ahead or not been skiing near to him then, therefor you wouldn't have wiped out would you? The downhill skier always has the right of way, surely you know that with your vast knowledge, right?

Yeah right!
Provocative post attracts less than sympathetic response on internet shocker. I've got greater respect for the most wooden top of wooden top fantasists than someone who suggests fines for people who've the temerity to snowplough on something as epically difficult as a red run.

Sweetheart, you have either led a life of extraordinary shelter though grammatically lax or you are taking the pіss. You've taken a tiny subjective experience and blown it into a forum . . . of which none are intrinsically benign . . . Then demonstrate that you are at best a careless skier to place yourself to be the instigator of a potentially very dangerous situation and then bitch about the unskilled being in your way and causing you harm . . . You are an arrogant twаt if you cannot see the blatant hypocricy in your whinging. We are all responsible for those below us and holding court in a bar is hardly up where you are in terms of gross negligence to your fellow sliders on the hill.
If this is a wind-up then fair do, it's good'un . . . if not . . . you are reprehensible for your blasé asswipeness.

So glad my popcorn isn't going to go to waste just yet.
cagey,
So it seems you went around a blind corner faster than you could safely stop, given the distance you could see.... hmm understand there are both sides to the story but you are to blame, if ultimately not actually at fault.
As for the slating of said "reporters" if you feel people are misrepresenting things as I said previously, name them and allow them to respond
As of right now you just come across as a miserable git with a grudge to bear.

cagey, if you reread what you wrote with an open mind you might realise that what posters here understood you to be saying isn't necessarily what you meant to say. Most of it is at best very ambiguous.
Now you seem to be saying some snowploughing skiers caused you to fall and injure yourself seriously. Further you seem to be suggesting this is the fault of persons who post advice on here. Is that for being the snowploughers in question or for some other reason?
FWIW you should probably aquaint yourself with the rules associated with piste skiing as it seems unlikely to be the downhill skiers fault you had to make drastic movements you couldn't control to avoid them and injured yourself. Or did you get run over by a horde of children?

OK I'll bite and express some sympathy for the OP. The fis code is deficient and people who get themselves into places in the mountain where they really shouldn't be are a bit of a menace. Very few piste users demonstrate highly conspicuous levels of self awareness so it's usually just best to assume everyone is incompetent until their actions prove them otherwise. But anyone who takes the ramblings of a Labrador drooling on a keyboard as a sign of skiing competence is probably the most deluded of all.

Never travel so fast that you cannot safely stop in the distance you can see to be clear? If you had come across a major accident on the piste and been unable to stop safely, would that also have been someone else's fault?
As someone who is also currently out for the count after a stupid accident, don't blame the perceived inability of others for your decision to ski outwith your ability.

fatbob, of course the FIS code is deficient and we have all screwed up and found ourselves in 'turtle head' situations . . . that doesn't mean we have ANY responsibility for a 'crusty's' inability to take and recover from appropriate action on seeing our distress. cagey was 'self confessed' skiing beyond his abilities . . . so perhaps he may gain some perspective from being told to . . .

Re Thornyhill,
Hmmm,
Although this doesn't in any way change my last 2 posts I can perhaps see why my innocuous post attracted such flack,
'
.......the reporters on this site.
Walter Mitties all of them,I know I am not very good but by comparison they are useless woodentops the lot of them yet they pretend to be good and give such stupid info, why do people do this. '
Could it have been this, badly worded although honest remark that attracted such grief. No offence but I was not even thinking of the majority of usefull and honest people on here who happily offer advice, I'm sorry if I have unwittingly offended you, I was only referring to the tiny minority who pretend to be what they are not. I'm not included cos I admit I'm not good and am here hungry for advice.
All of my past posts have been genuine, I haven't been skiing for very long and am just trying to learn how to get to the mountain as cheaply as possible.

cagey, sorry chap but you appear to keep contradicting yourself in a number of ways..
looking for help and advice
fairly new to skiing
failed to appreciate that there may be someone around a blind bend on a red ( though i have to say not sure there are many red tracks that i know of which have true blind corners)
shouting that people here are over reporting their abilities ( not unusual in any sporting activity) but unwilling it seems to back it up with specific info.
slagging us all off on mass.
truly sorry you are injured but dont compound it.

Dear Maaarsque-wipe
I am not blaming anyone for anything. I realise it was my responsibility to avoid an accident, which I did, shame tip of ski caught in netting, its just a bit silly for ploughers to be in that place, It's me paying the price not them. However I'm not sure where you get the right to call me an back bottom wipe, I hope you treat your blow up imaginary partner and genitalia with more tenderness than you show to your keyboard.
