Oh wow, some of you with your multiple weeks are making me so jealous. I would love that. Sadly having to always travel as a four some or else get babysitters leaves us stuck with maybe two trips a year. Mind you a few of you have reminded me that the season is quite long in the three valleys, will have to research weekends away in those areas maybe we can make it happen. When the children learn to ski without instruction we can't wait to go somewhere like whistler . I have only ski ied in the states once that was in Stowe, not such a big area but it was nice to go. The coldest place I have ever skied was in Avemore in Scotland, holy hell, I remember there was a wind that drove us back up the slope again.

Stowe was the last place I went (few years back now), absolutely loved the place! Went to Whistler in summer, still need to get back for winter!

biddpyat, I am also going to Garmisch again this year, from April 5-9. Only the Zugspitze is open at that time, but it is good fun up there particularly with the new chairlift.
If you are there in March you can ski the whole Zugspitz arena. I did that last year in the last week of March, and all the slopes were still open. My favourite was Lermoos, with the beginner slopes low down and the more challenging slopes on the Grubigstein. Ehrwalder Alm is also really good, with slopes for all abilities, including some lovely long cruisy blues, and Garmisch Classic has some lovely runs, with reds and blacks meeting at the valley, so you can go the top together, ski whichever run you want, and meet back at the Kreuzeck lift to do it again!
If you have the area pass you can go on the regular train for free from Garmisch to Lermoos and Ehrwald (and the other small resorts on the Austrian side), and on the ski bus, so you do not have to drive.

biddpyat, welcome to snowHeads!
For me a week in Folgarida immediately followed by a week in Arabba, in the Dolomites, and a week in Val Thorens at the end of the season. I also hope to sneak a few days between those two trips, but that'll be a last minute thing, particularly since I shall be unable to do a full week because of other commitments.

I am just praying the snow is good in January, we get to Garmish on the 5th . Last year it was a bit warm so the lower slopes and the end of the Kandahar were closed, so we went up the zugzpitze and it was a white out, couldn't see your hand in front of your face, it was really hard to see where the piste was or wasn't, not that we cared but was one of those days when you aimed to be back at a ski lift somewhere, rather than miss it and have to pole back. Lermoos is ok if the snow isn't great in Garmish itself as their base station is higher, so you can almost always ski home.
Some of you other posters are going to such great resorts, I could totally be a ski bum, sadly I think that ship has sailed.

We're off somewhere, not decided yet, Italy or France in January, and will be going to Yllas, Finland again in march. Loved it last year, x-country skiing and although alpine skiing limited, we had a great time. Log cabin was great, northern lights awesome, all in all, we had a really really good time. Even fed reindeer. Then we ate some. Lovely!

I know I can't wait either, I have been browsing the threads on this forum with a notebook and listing all the resorts to go and try out . I have been to quite a few, but I love trying new areas. Some of you are so lucky doing a few different places in one year.

Saalbach Hinterglemm. Gonna go in December so hopefully the snow will be good. I thought Saalbach Hinterglemm pissed over most over ski areas.

Feeling a bit bereft this year. Last year I was working in Munich for 4 weeks in Feb/March so weekends to Austria were on. This year it will be whatever Scotland throws at us, oh and a long weekend in Les Arcs (sleeper out and back 3days flat outs skiing in the middle). So after reading all this lot a week in Austria has been booked for Feb. Phew that feels better!

Col the Yeti, Perhaps see you in Scotland.
Me:
Jan 8th-18th: 2 days Innsbruck followed by 8 days St Anton
Jan 31st-Feb8th: 8 days Gressoney
Feb 28th-8th March: 8 days Ste Foy (though I may now have to go back half way through to transport a painting to a gallery - unless I get special dispensation)
+ perhaps a weekend in Scotland in late March?
But do people read through these posts - or just post their own holidays?

Looking forward to not being on snow everyday from mid-November to May! Got a pass to a local SoCal resort so will go there once or twice a week, planning on a couple of training days at Northstar in January, so will make that a week and ski at Squaw too. A couple of other trips to Squaw through March and April, and Mammoth for Convention at the end of April. Might make it to Whistler, depends on the client.
I did read all the other posts!

Hintertux on Friday, Stubai probably next week. Throughout the season days in Ski Welt, Kitz or wherever. I have a Tirol Snow Card season ticket and will also buy a Salzburgerland Super Ski season pass soon. They give me the best of both provinces without any problems.
I also have 2 weeks in Altenmarkt playing around in Ski Amadé at Christmas/New year, another week there in February and yet another in March. Still have to sort out my Easter fix though.
I don't take any summer holidays and I clock up loads of overtime in the summer that I use up through out the winter. I also have 2 days a week home office which allows me the freedom to work when I want to as long as I complete the minimum number of hours per day (8.5 for me). Living just 30 minutes from the first entry to Ski Welt also helps, and I'm only an hour from Ski Amadé.
