Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

altis, maybe worth saying that perhaps majority of mountain guides never been in this situation, or maybe once or twice ever. Of course all training in world won't quite prepare you for real thing. So next time you hire guide consider how little experience he may well have in real avalanche rescue.

Elston, bottom line is not to ski routes you barely know in conditions where you can barely see. This video clearly demonstrates how quickly that can end up being a series of bad experiences. I have actually met Pete the guy who is behind the helmet cam and have prodded him on FB so he can give more info if he wants.
