I always thought gaper came from having a gap between your helmet and goggles... so could be wearing cool stuff but doesn't know what to do with it...
I'm not really down with the kids though and could be very wrong!!

You could be right but I thought it came from the word "to gape". Basically someone who is new to skiing and totally amazed.
