Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Not a bad article, I'd say - many of the major European places are mentioned, avy dangers given a prominent place...

Is Yolanda a snowhead - looks very similar in content to advice being solicited here recently on which resorts had off-piste guided groups?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

So a typical journo: her own research is s hit (viz. St. Moritz) and the good bits are from getting the people on this forum to do her own work for her. How do these idiots get their jobs? Clearly going to the right unis/schools must help, as the standard of journalism these days in w ank. Read "Flat Earth News".

Oh yeah: here's a good example: where did a paediatrician end up being run out of town because the local neanderthals though the doctor was a paedophile? Or the story about the girl who had a turd tattooed on her back after cheating on her tattooist boyfriend? They go round and round every year, just like the photos of fat, drunken slags slumped in the street. Yawn.

Yes, met her on the PSB. I hadn't noticed the thread you refer to, but I did notice this one: http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=80867 which I didn't have a problem with as she was straight from the start that she's doing an article and then posts a link to the published result. (I agree it's annoying when we see things appearing where the author hasn't admitted why they were really asking a Q though, and I've no idea if she did in your thread in question.)

wigan, I think she was clear she was researching an article so IMV it's fine. We just have to seduce her at some point with totally fictional information to see if we can get it into print wink

 snowHeads are a friendly bunch.
snowHeads are a friendly bunch.
They're journalists. They're paid to write about things they don't know about. And in order to find things out, they generally ask their friends.

So true. Whenever I read a general newspaper article about something I know a lot about, it is always so full of "dumbing-down" errors it makes me pretty sure all the other stuff, that I don't know anything about, must be pants as well

fatbob, watch Starsuckers. They earn quite a few quid from making things up about celebrities.

sanman, yes, I've often thought that too!

Take it all with a pinch of salt now and would never make/ change an important decision based on anything I read in a paper of any standing.

Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:
A dumbwit at our local dry slope crashed and broke his leg one evening many years ago. Next thing you know the local rag has written an article about how this great skier had been racing at 80 mph (on a 100 m long strip of plastic) and ran out of slope. Nothing has changed and the main reason I don't read general newspapers. Now if it had said what wax he was using...

uktrailmonster, I read the Sun but as I would the Beano, an entertaining diversion but with added nipples. The Daily Mail site is good for hypocrisy: lots of tarts wearing not a lot.
