Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Those of you putting money on the 20s in November may actually be looking at a win!

Take a look at the 144St sequence on this model! wink

first time I've seen blue shading across as far as the Haute-Savoie in over 3 weeks!

I think it's looking "likely" that the French Pyrenees (Bareges & La Mongie) might be the first to see some proper snow... but hardly metres of the stuff... be nice to at least see some white webcams wouldn't it Smile

Prize was for first 15 to 30 cm snowfall in Alps. Not sure I can see anything like that in next few days.

Meteox is really just an animation of likely conditions. Not sure I'd imply it's a separate model. I rather suspect it uses one of the major models as it's source, but would be curious if it was separate how it was compiled.

Anyway if you put your original bet more than seven days ago, it's an opportunity to put in another bet!

nozawaonsen, looking at the various runs though I reckon the Pyrenees will still cop the best first dumps (I'll continue to use that term as that is what it does - dump on us!). It is not looking so good for us in the east though. mind you the snow cannons are on and there will be some stuff regardless! Toofy Grin

Perhaps we should start a sweep for the location as well as the date! Definitely not looking ood in my neck of the woods until the beginning of December Evil or Very Mad But then when it comes, it could be mega as it is so damned cold now and due to get even colder.

Maybe time to roll the dice again...

The cluster round this weekend are obviously a busted flush. Midweek is looking pretty unlikely. Next weekend? Maybe... Mid December? Let's hope so...

If you bet seven or more days ago, chance to update your bet! Free!!

But don't pick a date within seven days of the day you pick on (so don't pick sooner than 27 if you pick on 20, or 28 if you pick on 21 etc).

We're not looking for dribbles of snow here. But the first proper snow to fall in the European Alps (too complicated to adjudicate if it goes wider). And slightly generously that's been decided to be 15 to 30cm.

Absolutely no huge prizes, sport's cars, Woolworth's vouchers or cupcakes on offer for the winner.

I'm going to update my guess to... 27 November...

I'm sticking to my original date of 28th November. Starting during the night of the 27th and carrying on on and off during the week. That is for my neck of the woods, i.e. Eastern Alps, Austrian Tirol to Salzburgerland.

Nah, I'm sticking with my original offering of 4 Jan. We'll have a few flurries before then but will have to wait till after the New Year for the first significant fall. Feels like another 06/07 season to me. Hope I'm wrong.

I'll take December the 14th. Seeing as I'm meant to be going on the 17th, I'll be a nervous wreck by then!

I'll be booking last-minute this year.

Looks like the gob-smackingly non existent prize goes to Ricklovesthepowder and sparkzter, whose god like omniscience allowed them to pinpoint the snowfall to with 0.2mm of depth and to within a cm of the exact point the first 15cm deep snowflake fell.

Here's a picture of the two of them off to enjoy their holiday together...

let's say more than 15cm to 30cm at 1800m in the West or 1500m on the east?

evidence, please? Is there really 15 - 30 cms at 1800 in the west? Where's our Plagne 1800 reporter who said it was pouring with rain last night?
