fragy, Hi there - we've just had a fab week (19-26th). The resort level slopes were not too good, especially at the end of the day, but from Cretes upwards conditions were fantastic. We had sun/blue sky and virtually no wind ALL WEEK!

11°C at 3400m at 2.30 this afternoon However we skied between 2600 and the top most of the day and it was OK, even skied down to 2200 at 3pm. Lots of very red faces around here.

Not quite as hot today. But just to prove there's still plenty of skiing.

Terrific day here today. Beautiful sunshine all day but also quite cold. Some of the pistes have been icy but others have been really good. No great slush issues today. I'll be more than happy with these conditions for the next few days, plenty of skiing still. This is up on the glacier.

Can anyone give me a current indication of conditions and amount of terrain available?I dont really want to drive all that way and just ski a short run on the glacier. I know its probably grim, but I cling to the hope of a last minute dump, or failing that enough coverage to make a 4 day easter ski trip worth while.
At the moment I am considering cancelling the trip and going camping to the lake district instead!
I can defer the euro tunnel booking and still cancel the hotel (until Tuesday, when i have to make my final decision) unfortunately I pre bought lift tickets (at a reduced rate) so will have to take a hit on them if we dont go.
Should I ski or camp?!!!!
Les deux alpes or Keswick??!!!

daveqpr, plenty of skiable snow from 2000m upwards. Thuits is closed, but La Fee is still open as is the Valentin back to resort. It's still possible to get back to resort (did it the other day), though you have to walk the bottom half of the Lutins. Park is still in good nick and La Grave is open, though it closes at 13:00 because of the avalanche risk in the afternoon.
Latest reports:
http://www.2alpesnet.com/snow_report.php (look at Thursday's - today's is likely to concern mainly the inside of Grenoble's Hôpital Nord)
http://02b9882.netsolhost.com/blog1/ (Easiski's daily snow report blog)
For a detailed list of exactly what's open look here: http://www.skiplan.com/site_flash/infos_stations.html This is the list we have in the ticket offices and it's updated throughout the day.
Given that you've already bought the passes, why cancel? If you get tired of the skiing there's plenty of other stuff to do.

Decision Day!!
Haven't decided for sure weather to go or not.I have just plotted on a print out of the piste map all open pistes according to the link above and it looks like quite alot. Hopefully this is a true indication, as it still looks like enough for 3-4 days skiing, but what it doesnt say is the quality of whats on offer. Any one there able to help with this?
I am probally going to go but dont want to drive 10 hours from calais on a fools erand!

daveqpr, I've just skied the last 9 days there and am on my way home. Some great skiing still to be had. They have done remarkably well to keep things in such good condition. Above 2600m, which still leaves 1000m has been pretty good.

We skied in LDA last week and left Saturday morning. Had a great week, plenty enough skiing for us. As you would expect this time of year the snow varied from a bit icy (but not boiler plate) hard packed, to grippy to slushy depending on altitude, aspect, time of day etc. - but that's all part of the fun. It was open down to Cretes and also possible to ski down to resort via Valentin at end of day. A lot of the runs were very quiet for an Easter holiday. If I were you I would definitely go - I'm sure you will have a great time.
