So who is going to keep us salivating over the snow conditions in L2A ? I used to love the easiski reports but I am not sure she will be doing them this season. Shame because I have been to L2A on numerous occasions solely based upon the updated info on here by easiski

Lizzard, yes thanks, I noticed she mentioned something similar on another thread (without the link), but from my selfish point of view one 'forum' type thingy is more than enough for me and I did so enjoy her posts here

Cheers!

SteveKirby, in theory this page - http://www.2alpes.com/pages/fr/63/infos-pistes.html - should tell you what's open each day. However, it's currently showing everything as being closed because they are completely rubbish at keeping their website up to date.
I didn't go up yesterday because the weather was bad, but I would predict that the following will be open:
- Jandri Express
- T-bars and funicular on the glacier
- Signal chair
- Lac Noir chair at Toura
- red and white eggs, Village and Belle Etoile chairs, bas des pistes
La Fee is likely to be closed until the week before Christmas, as is La Thuit and Vallee Blanche. Piste map here: http://www.les2alpesreservation.com/documents/doc_centrale/Plan_pistes_Hiver_2010-2011_BD.jpg
We plan to go up tomorrow, as the sun is threatening to put in an appearance, so with any luck we should know a bit more tomorrow evening.

Hi Lizzard, (or anyone else in LDA who could help) would really appreciate it if you'd just confirm what is open if you get chance please. It's between LDA or Tignes for this coming week. Thanks very much in advance.

Open today:
- Jandri Express
- Bas des Pistes area
- Village chair (not sure about Belle Etoile)
- Puy Salie II
- Signal chair
- Lac Noir chair
- Venosc telecabin (limited service, morning and evening only)
Closed:
- red and white eggs
- Vallee Blanche and La Fee sectors
- Bellecombe chair
- Cretes and Petit Cretes chairs
Day passes cost 31,80€ (full price from Christmas week onwards will be between 39€ and 40€).
Resort is skiable from the top of Puy Salie right to the bottom via the Valentin and the Demoiselles. Valentin is slightly sketchy in places but you'd have to be very picky indeed to worry about it. Snow further up today was perfect fresh powder absolutely everywhere. Most runs were pisted, but they had left powder stashes everywhere, and the snow at the sides of the pistes and on closed runs was fabulous.
But we've tracked it all, sorry.

Thanks for that Lizzard, very much appreciated. Hopefully there'll be a decent dump on the 1st so we've got some nice new stuff to play on

Currently in Lutins bar following a great day skiing!
Been a hard week on the whole though, poor visibility for most of it, high winds and patchy snow down low (good up high though). Snowed all day yesterday, and woke up to mostly bright clear skies, everything was so much easier today. Skied Vallee Blanche, Diable secteur, Cretes and Toura, all were in fantastic shape. If it stays cold then anyone out here for New Year will have a great time. Last day tomorrow, hoping for clear skies again in the morning and if so we'll head up to the Glacier first thing

Feast, to me that looks like Petite Aiguille 1, not sure whether it's always been called that as some of the run names changed this year (and this was my first visit). It runs through the village joining the bottom of the Demoiselles/Valentin with the Cote chair that takes you up the Vallee Blanche side.
And I can confirm it's a lovely one to do.
Late update but my last day was Sunday and conditions were amazing. Fresh snow, perfectly groomed pistes and bright sunshine. Couldn't get much better, well maybe not quite so cold, it was -20c up on the glacier.
|
|
|
|

I don't think it is the Petite Aigluille as it was shut all last week. There certainly wasn't that much snow on it! It might be the run that goes through the village back to the Petite Aiguille lift though.

ktk, on this seasons piste map the run through the village is called Petite Aiguille 1. The blue alongside the Petite Aiguille lift was closed last week as you say, it's now called Petite Aiguille 2.
I think this is what I mean by the name changes of some of the runs. In our session with Charlotte she was saying how confusing it's become with them changing the run names for some.

I'm still writing regular snow reports on my blog, and am active on Facebook and Twitter, however I have not been on snowheads for a while as has been noted. The off piste trip business was really the last straw I'm afraid, on top of the very nasty comments when I posted about my friends' apartment for sale. There are people here who refuse to believe that anyone would do anything for nothing, and as I am sensitive to the nasty comments which were having a very bad effect on my health, I stopped! Sorry. |
