Although it rained a lot during the last 24 hour the snow on the pistes between 2500 and 3000 meters is in a good shape.
Below 2500 meters the snow is like fondante. The pistes at 2000 meter and lower have several brown patches. And of course a lot of snow is disappeared, turned into water and is now streaming to the Mediterranean Sea.
Today during short periods there was some sunshine. At 3000 meter it was 0 degrees and at 2000 is was +5 degrees.
In the afternoon there was a strong wind at higher altitudes. In val Thorens is rather busy with a lot people from Spain.

The winter is back !
Nearly 12 degrees colder than yesterday.
Some light snow ( 2cm) in the early morning. Sunshine in the afternoon only sometimes interrupted by clouds that come up from the valley.
Below 2500 meter hard packed snow, sometimes ice and a very thin layer of snow is left after 3 days of high temperatures and rain.

Tomorrow it will be three weeks ago that the season 2010/2011 started.
Gradually you see the opening of the hotels, restautants and shops. More and more people are on the pistes. The next week will show how severe the impact of the economical crisis is on the skiing bussiness.
Beautiful weather today with a lot of sunshine and temperatures not too low. Only at the tops there was a strong wind.
Piste above 2500 meter are in a reasonable condition. Lower pistes are hard with some ice and sometimes with rocks.

A nice and sunny day with temperatures just below zero and moderate winds. Piste and snow conditions are unchanged.
Saturdays are normally very quiet and so was this Saturday, although you can buy dayticket with a reduction of 50%.

The third day in a row with sunny weather. A little colder due to the north wind. Their are a lot more people on the piste.
The lower pistes on La Masse were closed cause by a lack of snow. THe higher pistes are very hard and icy.
Near the entrance to piste Covili on la Masse - go to the right side when you leave the gondola lift- you will find a large wooden sculpture of a bouquetin.

Bloody cold, very icy both Reberty and Motteret, hard work at the moment. Fantastic and clear and not busy so can really motor down the piste but could really do with the 30cm or so predicted for Friday.

Monday, 13-12-2010
The weather is unchanged. That means blue sky and cold.
At the top it was -10 degrees, but it feels much colder due to thw wind.
All pistes are hard and icy and sometimes it is difficult to to find some lose snow to make your turns.

It's very cold, light was not great this morning and still very icy, the helicopter was busy today. Val Thorens was pretty crowded, not busy in Les Menuires but bloody hell it's cold!

Again it was colder today. Early in the morning between -15 and -20 degrees.
Most of the day it was cloudy. Only some short periods with sun. Some clouds gave a kind of dust snow and later at beginning of the evening light snowfall started.
Most snowcanons do their utmost to produce extra snow on the icy pistes.

Cold, colder, coldest day uptill now. Although the wind was less strong than the days before it feels glacial.
Most peoples went into the cabinlifts and those who came out of the chairlifts looks like frozen.
During the day -15 degrees and at night -22 degrees. Yesterday evening a thin layer (2 cm) of snow came down.
This snow came not higher then 2300 meter, but for the lower pistes it means a small improvement.

Powder central today, fantastic. Sun is just coming out and snow is 20-25 deep on the hard base.

During last night the temperature rised more than 5 degrees.
In the last part of the night and the early morning more then 20 cm snow was delivered.
During the day some minor sunny spell and less cold then before.
Great conditions on the piste with such an amount of powder.

Instead of severe coldness now we have strong winds. Most of the day a sky covered with clouds.
The temperature at 2000 meter is just below zero. More and more pre-Christmas skiers and borders on the piste, lots of childeren and the ski school are doing well.
Appartments for rent should be occupied for more than 80% this week.

A grey day with a total covered sky and low hanging clouds.
The visibility was very poor and there were many patches with ice on the pistes.
At certain places "cailloux partout". Temperature at 2000 meter just above zero and at the tops very light snowfall.

It is snowing since yesterday night. All rocks and ice patches has been disappeared. Between 15-20 cm fresh snow for the Christmas weekend.
The temperature dropped today to - 8 degrees.
