Poster: A snowHead

Most of the responses on here are typical of the type of people that dominate this forum. My way or the highway opinions. Which is why I rarely post. I don't mind genuine wit but some posters just don't have it. I have flown several times. I have driven and I've taken a coach to the alps. All for different circumstances. This wasn't intended to be any kind of debate between flying and coaches merely offering some advice for people going on coaches. |
Bad day at the office dahling?
No-one's said my way or the highway - they've just highlighted what works for them...besides since when has an internet forum needed to stay on topic?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

This thread does not fill me with confidence...taking a coach to Val T with the uni at Easter... I pray to God that I don't have a hangover on the way back! |
You're not a Manchester Medic are you? (My son is, and is going on the trip).
Also the EoSB will be there that week.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking the coach, provided the journey is no longer than from the long stay car park to the terminal building.

That is exactly the debate we're having, except they're called Autoroutes in France.
But personally the only way I managed to make it through the journey was extreme excitement on the way there, and extreme tiredness on the way back, both of which worked fine for me.
I guess these days if we ever decided to go by coach I would take a laptop with a stack of DVD's to watch (although the battery wouldn't last too long I suppose - are there power sockets on coaches now?), noise cancelling headphones and a bottle of Night Nurse.

I guess it's all a matter of perspective.
For example, this seems perfectly reasonable, whilst this is something else entirely......

I'm contemplating the coach too. Do it every year with the school trip, but at least I have some say over the 40 odd other passengers. I can imagine that if you end up next the the wrong person/group/family it could be a nightmare.
However return coach fare to Meribel with SnowExpress is £167 in peak season. A return bus transfer from Geneva is £100+ and car hire for the week £220 once you've paid all the CDW. For two of us the coach looks a really good deal.
Anyone any experience of SnowExpress or any other coach firm?

What heppened to that form who used bands' tour busses when they weren't being used for touring ?
I recall some publicity that they would pick you up from a list of locations and drive you in luxury to the Alps. Sounded nice.
