Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

After an amazing September we are due some fairly miserable weather this weekend, snow on the tops and cooler for the next week.

Some "news" from Morzine

This will excite and dismay locals in equal measure.

I've added a few more pictures to my work blog http://alpschaletforsale.com/2010/09/23/new-ski-lift-in-morzine/

Thanks for the info.
So does this mean that the old Télésiège de Chamossière will be out of action this season?
i.e. will I still be able to get to my favorite run (Arbis) this Christmas?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

sennion, The old Telesiege is being replaced with a new 6 seater. The start will be from near the bottom of the Arbis and the finish will be slightly lower and to the right of the old one. It will all be up and running for the season.

Thanks. I thought some of the pictures were of the old lift being dismantled but now I see that they are of the new one being erected!

I note that the new lift involves Commune Verchaix. Is that because the land is in the commune or is it really the start of a link from Haut Verchaix into the PDS?? Which has been much discussed...

endlessride, Do you know someone called James Griffin, maybe did a season with you in Morzine a few summers ago doing bike riding? Great photos by the way.

it's got nothing to do with that "old" plan. Don't bank on that plan happening any more.

endlessride, so it's just on Verchaix land. I seem to recall talking about that at some point. No, you're right, my latest intel was that the plan had been well shelved.

The snowline was at about 1800m, this was taken at 1900m, the real snow was at 2000m +

And from Monday morning, grabbed from the Mossettes webcam. http://portesdusoleil.livecam360.com/

Last years the first snow came about 2 weeks later. Apparently 30cm fell at 3000m.

I looked on the avoriaz webcam and it had all gone last night. Snow line is at about 2300m, near the highest lift.

Just had a webcam fix, starting to look nice and autumnal in the Les Gets bowl. They're doing something near the top of the Chavannes Express, maybe another little cut down to the Gentian piste? Still working hard down at the new base station for the new bubbles.
I know a certain snowHead is making a fleeting visit this week so may be able to enlighten... Very Happy

Lou, sorry didn't get up there - we did go and see that the Ardent lift looks all but finished and ready to go. The Chamossiere taking shape and from the top (by the Nauchets lift) we could see quite a bit of activity at what will be the top of the new lift - and could also see that the existing Chamossiere lift appears to be dismantled. Looks as if there are lots of new drains going in by the bottom of the Fys lift.

Looks like there is still much to do at the lower station for new red eggs in Les Gets. I'm also curious to know what they are doing up on the left side of picture....

Boule de Gomme had to be the smoothest poma lift in the area, excepting perhaps La Turche. Missed the little black dog over the last couple of trips Sad
