Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

kitenski, Shimmy Alcott, thanks. Come to think of it, I have used Skype to live chat by keyboard, when the other party did not have video enabled.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person
Chat rooms on forums are far from "dead" or "past it" they are now really starting to emerge more and more as tools within a forum environment especially on forums such as this where lets be honest there aren't many visionary new topics and those that exist have been done several times over.

In the screenshots that I showed earlier the user has the choice of whether they wish to use/see it or not... if they feel that it might not be for them a simple click once and it is hidden permanently from their front page (it can be shown again with a single click too).

What it does do is help to create a sense of community as people develop relationships just like they do in a conversation as opposed to question and answer.

IMO, as it would cost the owners of SH nothing (it is standard phppBB functionality after all) then why not try it... if it doesn't get used then no harm done it can just as easily be uninstalled.. if it does it will make the forum/club stronger for it.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

In my experience no... it tends to "self moderate".. just like (back to the bar analogy again) if someone were in a bar and started using totally inappropriate language or topic then they would very quickly be "shunned" by the other users of the bar.

In extreme circumstances they would be barred from the bar.

Alternatively it could be set up so that only a certain level of member could have access.....

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much
