Colin B, Thanks. I snoozed on this place this year, but I am now going to the SFaB in April. I'm considering an early Dec trip for next year.
I've never been to Tignes before. Is it still glacier skiing in Tignes at that time or do some other pistes open (snow permitting)?
I have seen that this chalet is in Les Boisses. How do people get to the slopes in early Dec?
Finally, skis? Do people take their own or rely in the availability of the test skis?

BMF_Skier, the weekend we go the whole resort has been open, wind permitting. We have lost 1 day twice in 3 years, the first due to an avalanche closign the road up to Le Lac and the second due to high winds closing the lifts. There has been dumpage on an epic scale at times. The ski bus runs in the morning and back in the afternoon, if the ski bus schedule hasn't started Mountainsun take you up in the minibuses. I fyou miss the bus, or decide to stay out for apres the taxi is about 15 euros. Some folk take their own skis, others rely on the demos. I've been in both camps and this year I am not taking mine to save cost.

BMF_Skier, typically the Espace Killy opens on the last weekend of November, snow dependent. I've been there three times for opening weekend and had great snow twice (and an exceptionally quiet resort), and once it was just about OK. But it's not unheard of for the opening to be postponed by a week.

Having a poo-poo day at work, which is pretty much the norm these days. Tempted to not come home again, if I could find a job washing pots, serving beer or something equally politics-, stress- and c0wdoo-free compared to the current dump.

jonm, I'm not having a poo-poo day yet (I thought I might as well type poo-poo!) but I feel a series of poo-poo weeks coming on after some decisions to be taken later in the week - I'll be ready for this trip in 2 weeks!

I would think so, as brave and cocky that they were on the way through the snow to Geneva on Tuesday night I think a few vasectomies would have been done with blunt knives if they had got back on the plane this week.
