Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Plain yoghurt with fresh blueberries or sliced apple. Freshly ground and brewed strong black coffee (no sugar) Sets me up a treat! I will be alternating with porridge though when I go skiing - made correctly with water and salt and slow cooked! - No milk and just a little honey to soften it up a wee bit when I eat it! Cool

It used to be the mid station at Steamboat.

Pay for an early start ticket - ride the Gondola with the patrol. Into a proper full American Buffet breakfast. Hand stamped like a crappy disco. Ski a run. Return for next portion - and repeat.

Most of my really great ski breakfasts have been in the US. The Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl in Obergurgl gets close though.

The best is Freshtracks in Whistler. You take the gondola up at 7.30am have whatever you want for brekkie at the roundhouse and then you get to ski fresh tracks. THAT is the best breakfast experience anyway.

Er, you left out:

Wait for peak chair to open.
After 40 mins at the front of the queue, think "oh bugçer this for a lark", and go for a blast down to the bottom of big red.
Ride big red slooowllyyy back up, watching peak open, and 100s of punters more patient than you swarm over the freshies.

Weird thing is, it seems to happen no matter whether you wait 4 minutes or 40....

Coffee for a kick start and usually an energy bar of sorts later on.
I do this for cycling if out all day and it sets me up well for that as well as skiing.

I'm with those that say porridge......with honey or fruit mixed in is best. But some boiled eggs alongside this is a must for filling up on protein and beating the hunger pangs.

Breakfast of Champions: one cold can of beer and one large bowl of ice cream.

(that's worked for me a few times. Dispels hangovers pretty well, too).

More practical: porridge, an orange, buttered muffins, tea, juice.

I'm always hungry before 11 though, no matter what I have for breakfast.

DAVE 2227, I'm with you on the porridge made with water, but I add a bit of cold milk on top and I love maple syrup instead of sweetener on it if I am not feeling super-virtuous about the diet. I have to say I found it wasn't enough to last me all day skiing though. My system far prefers porridge to a wheat-based breakfast, and fried just gives me indigestion.

What kind of stuff do you get in Chalet breakfasts? I've been self catered before so it is a new thing for me. We're staying in Chalet L'Escapade in ADH the 1st week of Feb.

Two favourites have to be..... in reverse order....

2. Princessa Parc - Arinsal - Last nights leftover meat, minced and boiled in grease to make a flat sausage thing. It sounds revolting, but I think it may be the tastiest thing on the planet. (Needs combined with a good selection of sweetbreads, half a pound of bacon, a few fried/boiled/poached/not sure eggs, cereal, bread, a couple of glasses of red wine, maybe a glass of champagne and two cups of coffee to set you up for the day)

1. The Killington Inn. Vermont- Steves cooked to order pancakes, or Steves cooked to order muffins. The muffins make McDonalds look like no-one in McDonalds research and development team has ever had a decent muffin. The pancakes are so good that we are planning to go back to Killington in 10/11, not for the skiing, but just for the pancakes..... with blueberries and maple syrup
