Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Doesn't it just Shocked

On the other hand it looks like there is a bit of a ramp down, so may get enough speed to scoot across the rather flat top bit to head back to Vallandry.

Surely its a discharge after the chair has turned 90o to the direction of travel? Otherwise there is a hut straight ahead and great pile-up potential. It should get rid of the Arpette / Ours mingling crowds on the ridge as well.

It will no doubt be a detached chairlift which slows down to disembark.

That's what it looks like to me, rather like the main lift out of 1600 where you don't get off until the chair has swung round to the right...

Has anyone seen the 2009/2010 piste map for Les Arcs yet to see how these lift changes adjust things in terms of getting around ?

Richie_S, First post in this thread, click the links, supposedly shows the before and after . The maps on the actual les Arcs website haven't been updated but knowing the Les Arcs tourist board they won't have figured Winter is on its way yet!

It's just going to put more skier traffic on two busy sectors

(1) The flat bit past the ski-parking lot outside the arpette restaurant

(2) The Aprette blue down from the old col de frettes / arpette lifts as per this photo

I seem to recall it's easiest to ski past the proper entry and to traverse back over the top of the stream from skiers right. Then it's just a matter of a few smallish bumps...

bertie bassett, I'm not sure this will become busier per se.... wouldn't all the Col De Frettes and Arpette lift traffic head this way anyway?

Shame there's no way to get from the top of the Derby to the Arpette... or is there?? IIRC there's a couple of ridges 'in the way'. ??

allanm, Now that would be quicker getting back into the bowl. This year got sick of Transarc so took to skiing from Derby down to Vagere(?) near 1800 up that and then Col De Fretes(?) up to the ridge that allows you to ski down into the bowl but if I could bypass Vagere that would be cool, anyone know if possible?

I don't think it is possible. Best way is Derby to Gd Renard (assuming it's running, or 2nd stage of TransArc if it's not).
