The new rendlbahn is on the site of the bus station yes? And also is that happy valley place where the blue 4(?) runs which was shut all of easter?

Taxi Park & Yes Blue 4. The Bus Taxi Area wil be all remodelled around the New Rendlbahn for next sesaon.
Happy Valley is frequently closed in April (especially the afternoon) its to dangerously exposed to Avalanche. Last Easter Avalanche conditions dictated it to be closed allday.

Hmm not sure if I get this right, but if the Happy Valley is closed you can't come back from runs 14, 11 and 17 to Alpe Rauz, that will cut off lots of nice terrain.... strange

Tom W, I think you're confusing Happy Valley with the Valfagehr run down to Alpe Rauz and Stuben. Happy Valley is the Steissbachtal which is marked as No 4 on the map.
Valfagehr does get closed fairly often as well though. I ended up snowed in at Ulmer Hütte for a couple of days once.

No more new lifts are allowed to be built in Austria. Only upgrades & replacements.

Does St A get a "credit" for taking out the T-Bar (Feld???) 2 or 3 years ago, ie can it build a new lift because it has retired a lift?
A few more runs in the trees, say off Galzig would be neat for those braille-skiing days.

No, with the New Galzigbahn they had to dig up the whole hill & build 8 new Pylons. Taking out Feldherrnhügel T Bar was part of the deal for the new Galzigbahn.

This will have to be rebuilt soon as there are serious problems with the seismic movements of Galzig.
The Base station has shifted.
They may well move it to the base site of the old Feldherrnhügel T Bar.
Similar thing happened with the old Kandahar Funicular. Gampen is moving & it was to expensive to replace,rebuild the Funicular they dismantled it.
It pretty much down to the different Families who own the lifts. The Arlberger Bergbahnen AG http://www.abbag.com/en/sommer/home/ are just the operating company.

Any word on what is happening with the Muggengrat replacement? If it is following the line of the existing lift, then the webcam suggests that work has not started yet?

Im not sure when they start. It does not take long (4-6 weeks) to replace a Chair. They could start in October & have it ready for 09/10. The weather has not been good in Arlberg non-stop rain last few weeks.

stanton - just seen the pictures of the mooserwirt makeover....
will the place still be the same next season - i.e. with an outside bar and an inside one? How much of it are they changing? That place is surely one of the best apres bars in the alps...would be a shame to see it change too much.

There just digging down to make an underground car park. Once complete the piste will go back on top. The Main Building/Outside terrace is not changing as far as I know maybe just a clean up.

so the idea is to ski and then walk to the gondola base on the narrow bridge?
how long is this bridge gonna be?
initially I thought they will build something similar to Obertauern
when you can actually ski on the wider bridges over the road to the base of the chair lift on the other side

I am a fter some info on summer car parking. I need to ark somewhere near Galzigbahn this weekend. I normally park at Nassarein end f town in winter.
Is there a car park at the west end?

There is/used to be one at the Rendlbahn, but obv. with it having been flattened I don't know if it it still there. Vague recollections of something else that end but as I didn't have a vehicle last season it's not something I was looking at.

There is a Car Park under the Tennis Centre (http://www.arlrock.at) .
They "may" turn the old Rendlbahn base station area into a Car Park. The old base station has not been demolished yet..

The Old Rendlbahn will either get demolished or turned into another accommodation block.
The new Rendlbahn base station will be about two storeys high & the new bus station will be underneath.
