Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski Hire - Tignes Le Lac?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi folks...

As I'm travelling over to Tignes on the 14th March (with four others)...thought I would ask what learned snowHead would suggest with regards ski hire in Tignes Le Lac, hopefully based on any recent experience?

I know Ski Republic has been mentioned previously, but they seem to have had mixed reviews? Our TO suggest Ski Set, but would rather choose based on knowledge rather than a name...

Many thanks.

fairfield_munchkin, I used ski republic in Val Claret the other week so would recommend them. Good service IMO and decent skis plus they did 2 for one and a 30% discount for the third set.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I have just come back today, it spoke to the chalet staff over a few beers and they said ski republic was the cheapest you would find. There were lots of people out on their skis and they have a number of shops across all parts of the resort. The rep said he sent his mates there as they did a better deal than he could get. He also told the group to be careful around the aeroski (top and bottom) as top end hire skis had a habit of going walkabout. Could this be his plan to make sure everyone paid for extra insurance.

Ski Republic. TOs tend to 'recomend' based on the kick-back they get rolling eyes .

We've used le Vallon Blanc (small independent opposite the Aeroski) a couple of times - not the cheapest but had good service.

Many thanks folks for the replies. Ski Republic it might just be then...will have a look at the website and see if we can book at the weekend. Will also check out le Vallon Blanc too. Any other thoughts/comments welcome!

Agree about the TOs and 'kick-backs', hence the question. Though last year we went with the TO's recommendation as we didn't have any time to do any searching ourselves and I hadn't found snowHead . As it turned out the ski shop was in the chalet next door to ours and on the way to/from the piste, so couldn't complain.

Thanks...

Can't recommend Ski Republic highly enough. Used them in Le Lac last year, and just booked again (flying out Sunday this week). They have a permanent 2 for 1 deal if you book ahead on their website.

Dont think Ski republic pay kickbacks to tour ops - in fact pretty positive on that. Have to say I used them in Tignes and the standard of servicing and equipment led a lot to be desired.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

So basically I have read that Ski republic in Tigne Le Lac is get what you pay for, cheap 2 for 1 deals, but the skis are not very good condition.

Does anyone have experience with renting skis online for Tigne Le Lac?

If so what website and how were the skis?

Anyone any experience of renting skis from Ski Precision?

Cheers

Just wondering if there's any more recent opinions on ski hire in Tignes Le Lac?

Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:

Snowpark Galerie du Palafour, Rue de la Poste, le Lac Ask for Regise speaks perfect English, have good website, have even Whitedot and a large group of OP skis on rent. A friend of mine and I can recommend without doubt. Check what you want to rent is in his field. If you want to buy he will take the price of the rental from the price of a new ski. He has the advantage of a piste "running past the front door", if you don't like them after a couple of runs try something else.
