Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

British racers doing well in FIS World Championships so far

Chemmy Alcott raced to a personal best finish in women’s Super G in Val d’Isère on Tuesday, coming 20th. She also came 17th in the Super Combined on Friday. Douglas Crawford and Ed Drake finished 28th and 29th in men’s Super G, and 21st and 27th, respectively, in the men’s Downhill on Saturday. ...Heavy snow prompted the cancellation of the women's downhill today. The FIS said it was unable to get the course at Val d'Isère in shape for the race and postponed it until Monday.

As I mentioned elsewhere, the schedule for tomorrow is now as follows:

0900 GMT - Men's Super Combined DH
1200 GMT - Ladies' Downhill
1600 GMT - Men's Super Combined SL

I personally can't wait until the Ladies' GS, I've got Chemmy down as having a good shot of a top 10. Fingers crossed people!

Also be interested to see the men's SL, partly to determine of the Baxters are really as bad as their form is suggesting, and how young Ryding and Noble will perform.

Decent stuff from everyone so far, particularly impressed with Crawford's DH, especially on such a demanding course.

It was great to hear the Brits getting encouraged even by some of the French at the races. Hopefully the races will go ahead tomorrow but the snow is still falling so fingers crossed.

Does anyone else find it infuriating that, as far terrestrial broadcasters are concerned, women's skiing doesn't exist? skisimon, might rather optimistically fancy Chemmy for the top 10, but he certainly won't be able to follow her progress on Ski Sunday.

Jonny Jones, I think many of us optimistically fancy Chemmy.

stewart woodward, not sure - there is a qualifying for both GS and SL - this from the website

Quote:

Qualifying heats for the Giant Slalom and the Men's Slalom will take place on the "OK" slope in La Daille on Thursday February 12th for the Giant Slalom and Saturday February 14th for the Slalom. The rules are as follows: "The best 50 competitors present will qualify directly to the finals and all other will compete in a qualification race for the remaining 25 places.
All competitors participating in the qualification race will be included on the official results list of the respective race of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. Replacement of injured or ill athletes - verified by the Medical Supervisor - of the top 50 present athletes may only be made by athletes with at least the same or better WCSL / FIS points than the 50th on the board. Only the WCSL / FIS points of the originally entered 50th competitor count. There is no moving up. The enrolment is done according to WCSL points followed by FIS points".

but no info anywhere that I can see on who's entered or whether our boys will be in the top 50. Dave is highest ranked in the FIS List at 125, with Alain next at 154. Not sure how the WCSL points work so if either baxter has kept anything on there based on previous seasons. Also of course with each nation only allowed 4 racers a lot of the higher ranked skiers won't be there rolling eyes

so basically none of that was any use whatsoever Laughing
