Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

espri, I read that, but most people I know who've done it have not had any experience before doing the course.

I spoke to Fiona Young, one of the main BASI Trainers for adaptive courses, and she said that there was a lot of information which you needed to study before the course but experience of working with adaptive skiers was not essential.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

rob@rar, i've taught a couple of deaf children before, although does require you to adapt the way you teach.

beanie1, rob@rar Thanks for the information. I have contacted BASI to see whether they will take me. At least it might help make up numbers on the course (I see 2 are booked at present). I have no experience with adaptive skiing but do have a German instructor qualification, Grundstufe = Basic. Maybe that'll get me on.

One other question. The Sondhofen course is only five days, so I presume it only covers some units. Any idea what?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

espri, It is a BASI Level 1 course, so as far as I'm aware there are no prerequisites for the course so you should be able to sign up for it. From what I understand you cover two specialisms during the week, although I'm not sure what these are. When I spoke to Fiona Young in the autumn she said that currently it was two physical disabilities but BASI were considering switching that to one physical disability and one learning disability (for which no special equipment would be required, as many ski schools don't have adaptive kit available to them).

rob@rar, Thanks for the information. I've sent BASI an e-mail, so I'll report once I hear from them.
