Does anyone know how the snow has apparently melted 20cm?!

essexsaloman, it compresses down as it ages, last season there was a total snowfall of over 12metres but at no time in the season was there more than 4 metres shown.

thats because the temperature was not -10, there has been a strong warm wind. I wouldn't worry about it though as more snow will be along soon to replace it.

Hi guys - Glad to see this season's Ros thread is up and running with all the usual suspects!
Getting my fix in Feb, 6th time and first sans enfants so will be extra fab,. Staying in the Planica under the new webcam. (thuds on the roof will be kitenski thenNeed some help though; fancy a day out in Ste Foy - whats the best / cheapest way to get there from Ros? And is it worth the effort /lift pass cost given the euro situation?

helenjane, Your might be better off coming to Les Arcs for the day. You can ski down to ecduets (something like that, see the piste map) and there is a free bus to funic in bourg but you do need to check the bus times to be sure not to miss them. There is a free bus to come back as well and catch the lift up and ski home. Or get the later bus from bourg and go direct to la ros, costs about 10 euro i think. I normally do this but the other way. Makes for quite a good day out and cheap. I was told a few days ago that you can get a discount in Les Arcs with a la Ros pass. Not sure if that is true. You will need to do a bit of research. Anyway just an idea for you.

Just got back today. There is plenty of snow left from the pre-xmas dump but the wind really picked up and lifts were closed on friday. The wind was picking up the snow and leaving sections of ice interspered with ice - tricky. They need some fresh stuff in the next week - not seen a forecast yet. Great resort though - our first trip.
