Should be interesting from the opinions I have read. |
Hoping to go there in late January. I'd appreciate it if you would let me know what you think is the best resort, Hotel (accommodation), bars, restaurants, etc.
Thanks

The wife's fallen out with the mother-in-law so with any luck I won't have to go to the outlaws over christmas. This should improve my chances of doing more ski touring away from the madding crowds and like Boris - play the Wii station Father Christmas is bringing the kids to play with.

pam w, have you even been skiing at christmas? So long as you pick a nice high resort of which there are plenty I wouldn't worry about the snow levels on piste as there have normally been a good few dumps by then and the resort will work bloody hard to make sure the runs are covered for christmas. I don't beleive, although I could be wrong, that any of the major french ski resorts, excluding portes du soleil as its rather low, have failed to have enough runs open over christmas to keep an intermediate piste skier entertained for a week.
FastEddie, it really is worth sacrificing what you know and love for christmas in the mountains, it feels a lot more christmassy as well with all the snow. Presents generally pale into insignificance when you realise theres an entire mountain waiting to be ridden.
