Super Eagle, It does, and I'm already in the valley they took us to last year when there wasn't any  .
I'll probably spend at least one day in Kaltenbach, since it's included on the lift pass and so is the valley train.
Hopefully you won't have to spend every day of your Austria trip heading that way.

Zermatt for New Year, for the first time. It is snowing as I write - I keep checking the web cam and there are snow flakes visible on the "Church" cam. Soooo exciting.

Well where I'm going (the Dolomites) they could do with more snow but I think it never snows that much there! Still most of the Dolomitisuperski area is open.

We (myself and himself) are off to Mayrhofen for Christmas this year. Snow on the mountain looks good - down in the village it is coming and going. I didn't realise that it was a party-town until I started reading this forum - so hopefully I'll be able to keep on the straight and narrow. We picked it on the basis of trying to find somewhere relatively snow-safe in Austria for Christmas.
I've clearly been completely spoiled by my first ski trip to Soll (another party-town - no pattern here!) 3 years ago when the snow at Christmas was beautiful. At the time, that was how I presumed life was in Winter-sport-land for the whole season. I really wish I'd taken far more photos.
On another note, I've loved reading johnnyboy's thread on his first season. I was thinking I was mad to even consider it at 30 after 3 ski weeks and now I have hope. Keep writing johnnyboy - there's a book in it somewhere
