Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

holidayloverxx, Having had a pair of hire skis taken from a ski rack I'm pretty careful with my own now. I use one of those straps that you tie around suitcases that you can buy anywhere that sells holiday 'extras' such as adaptor plugs or luggage. Extended it's long enough to wrap around a couple of pairs of skis and around the ski rack and the key is usually very small so easy to carry (but easy to lose!) It's light enough to be able to clip around your waist when skiing or rolls up pretty small to fit in a back pack. To be honest, although I use it a fair bit I rarely lock it as I think the deterrant value is more beneficial.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

holidayloverxx, descent self-coiling bicycle lock will do the job. There are very few "Sold Secure" cable type locks but if you do find one (try the bike shops), you will have far less argument with the insurers if your gear goes missing.

Oh, and combination types are better than keys as they don't freeze up as easily but the judicious use of a fag lighter (the blowtorch type is best) will warm things up so always keep one in your pack.

I have a Manbi MICRO PEBBLE Ski Lock. It's really tiny and fits into your pocket. The bike ones are enormous compared to it. I got it from Bargain Boards.

They have a very good service: it came in a couple of days. I can't post a direct link as it's one of those funny website that doesn't work like that. You will have to go to the home page then look at the list on the left hand side then choose Accessories / Locks / Manbi.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.
