Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Warren Smith Verbier Gap Course.

Ok, it seems people are having a good blow out about the WARREN SMITH GAP COURSE. Ive been reading thru the posts and observing people go round and round about statistics and gossip. So, here is some infomation about the Gap course from someone who was actually on it. This info is intended for anyone who is interested in doing the course and not to add to the on going rattle.
I started skiing at Easter 2006, previously I'd had a bit of a snow plough sess, but that was my limit of skiing when i met Woz, (Warren Smith). Through hard work and dedication, not just from me, but Warren and the Coaches, I passed my BASI 3. The whole experience was brilliant. I made friends with students from other Gap courses in the resort and I am well aware of their experiences and training but I am more than happy I chose Warrens course. (This is said with no disrespect to the other Academy's/ Ski Schools). The level of coaching was inspiring, and as well as making lifelong friends with all his team, they showed dedication to everyperson on the course. The course content consists of training for the BASI exam, and also developes a foundation for other areas of skiing, wether that be Freeride, Freestyle, or Piste performance. Skiing is continuingly evolving, and BASI are recognising this. It is therefore beneficial to be training in all areas and developing your personal direction. Tom, Phil, Rob, and Charlie are specialists in all areas of skiing and great blokes who will really get the best out of you. I will be continuing to ski and train with Warren's Academy. Warren lives and breathes skiing. He is comitted to the sport and full of knowledge about performance, techniques, physical fitness, bio-mechanics and equipment. I came into this having never met Warren or any of his team until last Easter, so I have no bias to my compliments. I am one of the people who have been mentioned in the past posts who joined the Gap having only have a few weeks skiing experience. Warren is no fool, and through prior meetings on his coaching courses or phone conversations has enough experience to know who he is taking on the Gap. I had a strong background in Pro sports which made up for my lack of ski experience. It is a testiment to the quality of the coaching that I got my qualification.
I think discusions are generally a healthy thing and provide an oppertunity to clarify any misgivings surrounding situations. I hope that me speaking up shows that myself and all my friends who attended Warrens gap course are the positive proof to any negativity that may have been created by the smoke blown around this discussion.
Cheers x

kayla, Welcome to snowHeads.

I think I know who you are - the artist & rider, right?. I've seen the amount of training you've put in & how your skiing had improved hugely each time I saw you at Castleford & in Verbier in Jan, so congrats on achieving your well deserved Instructor qualification. I'm doing Warren's last two May dates at Castleford so hopefully will bump in to you then.

Good to see you speaking up for the course and congratulations on gaining your BASI 3.
Although I have only done a week and 2 day sessions with Warren I felt my skiing improved considerably (others may disagree with me rolling eyes ), unfortunatly it is looking like the MK dates are out for me in May due to work commitments but I will be looking at the dates later in the year.
Still got the spotty trousers Laughing

Hello,
Um yea still got the spotty trousers, but they have been relegated in favour of v baggy pink ones.
Wazza's xscape courses are the BOMB. You will work on the drills in prep for the mountain. this is especially good if you are going to do one of the on snow academy weeks as its an intro to the bigger picture. You will do Braquage exercises, and work on ankle flexion, latteral control, and pole planting. Also your personal bio-mechanics will be assessed to improve your skiing, looking at your weaker turn direction and how you can improve it. Symetry and ski stance, making you a more balanced and stronger skier. If the moguls are out, you will train on them too. Its very beneficial to have all these things evident in your skiing, it will vastly improve what and how you ski. And its fun too. Woz and Rob are top boys. You will become addicted. Hope that helps x
