Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

For reasons of laziness, tightwaddedness and general convenience I plead Tignes Val Claret.

Cheap,

Nice folks,

Good views,

Good height,

Good snow,

Good luck most others in ten years!?

For the ski-ing, St Anton wins for me...... for the 'whole package' though, I really like ski-ing in Pila. Staying down the mountain in Aosta means a 25min gondola ride - but that's no sweat.
Don't take this the wrong way Snowheads, but when I'm away on holiday I need to get away from the 'Ibiza style' Brits abroad. Aosta is a working Italian town, and it's good to 'go native' occasionally.

Nothing wrong with that, I quite fancy visiting some of the Pyrenees for the same reasons. (Wouldn't go to Italy though - World Cup sores not healed yet!)

Sunshine Village - great little resort with tonnes of variety and no snowmaking!

Glencoe - because its near home and basically one big free-ride area with a good atmosphere.

Most spectacular: Chamonix/Argentier when you drive around the corner into the Camonix Valley and see those huge peaks..WOW.

Best place to ski Snowbird Utah, great powder; Kirkwood California.

Other favorites, Avoriaz (went back last week for the first time in 10 years); Jackson Hole Wyoming, great mountain, great location, greatplace.

Been to the other French resorts mentioned (except Les Duex Alp) wouldn't rush back to any of them.

Whistler, well in 2 weeks there it rained every day and I have no idea what the mountains look like cos we never saw them! Feel like I should go back but, that rain!

We stopped skiing in Europe 8 years ago because of the poor snow relaibility. When you have to book months ahead like I do you can't chose the good snow weeks. The thing with US resorts like those in the Sierras or Utah is that normally (this year has been unusual) you know there will be regular dumps of deep snow during a 2 week holiday. Even in a bad year like this year conditions at Christmas in Kirkwood were better than Avoriaz last week (and that was their best week so far!) but I still enjoyed the skiing we got.
