Just signed up for the Extremely Canadian freeskiing course. Who's done it here? Going to arrive tomorrow nite for a week Getting the new boots fitted and hopefully hit the slopes for half a day sunday.

The Symphony Express is primarily low intermediate terrain. (some would say "flat") The lower portion is focused on providing "groomed glades". Instead of a traditional, 40-50m wide piste, clumps of trees remain, with 6-12 meter wide paths around them. Very enjoyable for low intermediate skiers- more advanced skiers will want to stay at Harmony and Peak chairs IMO. Btw- these groomed gladed pistes are similiar to pistes at Vail's "Blue Sky Basin" and Sunpeaks Mount Morrisey.
The view from the top of Symphony (Piccolo peak) are fantastic- especially looking to the south, where garabaldi lake is very visible, unlike from the top of Harmony.
I saw many people hiking out to the new terrian via the high traverse line from Burnt Stew basin on opening day last Saturday. That isn't required, and is a lot of effort- just ski down burnt stew and then hang a right. On the way out, once again choose the Burnt Stew track, and just keep your speed as it funnels into the catrack back to harmony (skier's left). you should be able to get at least as far as Robertson's and Harvey's before you need to push. Snowboarders aren't going to be huge fans of this lift. Plan on leaving early enough so that you can do a final ride up Harmony Chair- otherwise it's a long slog across the flats behind Harmony lift and down to Emerald Chair.

Pretty accurate summary. I would also add it seems to break down a lot. The only new terrain it really adds is lift served for 4 or 5 turns down Piccalo face. Lift queue dynamics seem to be a bit of a problem. Lots of people start migrating back from Symphony at the same time choking up Harmony - add the fact that Emerald is always a gong show and you are left with Gondola mid station before you hit decent uplift.
Hi Paul hope the Xmas day dump was kind to you - I got 16 inches at Alpental & some pretty crazy chinese downhill lines when patrol dropped the top ropes.
