Do easyjet charge for ski boot bags???

Hi i have just had an email to tell me that easyjet are doing a speedy check in. By that they mean you can pay a small fee and be in the first 20 to board the plane. But on checking my details of the flight it says that i am allowed 1 piece of luggage in the hold. If i have a second piece of luggage it will be charged at 7.50 euros online or 15 at the airport. I have not noticed this before, and was not charged this year. So does anyone know will i be charged for taking my boots in my boot bag???

Yeah,

This is new. You can only have one bag in the hold. Additional bags are charged extra at the rates you state and this does not change your overall baggage weight limit of 20 kg.

Gjspain, what were the booking conditions in place when you booked your easyjet ticket? Presumably this will continue to be in force for your flight. I think both easy and ryanair changed their hold luggage T&Cs recently, but any tickets booked before then should still have the original luggage allowances.

It only says one piece of luggage in the hold , but i have always checked in 2 with no problems. I know there was a charge for skis but i have never been charged for boots. It will be interesting to see if people do get charged or wether they allow boots bags to go free. .

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I was with someone with boot bag (probably at the EOSB ?) who hadn't pre-booked them. They were asked at check-in "Have you booked those" and replied "Yes" and they were just checked in with no further questions. I get the impression it depends on the mood of the check-in person!

You'll need to Register first of course.

Why would you do this? Easjet do not allocate seats, you are going to get on (they will not leave you behind as log as you are at the departure gate), a seat at the front or at the back what does it matter. Get a grip!!!

Gjspain, we each have one of these. Boots in the end pockets, son's size 10s go in no problem. No problem being under 20kg so far.

Gjspain, They charge for everything now - just booked flights for some friends. Oh and whislt on the subject, make sure when you book with ryanair to note the booking ref and not rely on the email confirmation. I didn't!! Spent the morning on the phone at 1.35 euros for the connection and 34 cents per minute to be promised an email with confimation, 3 more calls (3 more connection fees) still no email - will not make same mistake twice!

HUmm but you have to know your booking reference and when you are silly like me and dont write it down as soon as they give it to you you have no way of getting into your booking! They always used to send confirmation via email. Hope I haven't got onto a 'pirate' ryanair site!

I've just tried on Ryanair and to log in (top right hand corner) you need the confirmation number so it wouldn't help you.
I know with Easyjet you log in via your email address and can get all the booking details from there.

I don't write mine down either, just rely on the emails and the website but then I've only used Easyjet so far. To check in at East Midlands I didn't even need the number, just put the card I paid for the flight with in the self service check-in machine and it brings up the bookings on the screen.

I got a nasty paper cut from the self service baggage labels. Oooooh it smarted.

I'd check your spam folders, all my booking confirmation for flights, car hire and accommodation used to end up there, until I got a Googlemail account, which very nicely puts all the ads for viagra etc into the spam folder, and leaves all the useful stuff alone.

Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:

Helen Beaumont, I've recently started using the labels on my emails, useful for keeping all the PSB, EOSB etc stuff together. I'm quite impressed with Gmail so far and being accessible from any PC means my emails are always to hand.

i'd like to see all airlines raise charges proportionate to the amount of clobber people load onto the plane, with lower charges for hold baggage than for the stuff people insist on lugging into the cabin, holding up the boarding process and dropping on my head trying to put it into the overhead locker. You travel light, you pay cheap. Seems fair enough to me. But they are not consistent. Skis - and boots - should be weighed and charged just like everything else, including laptops, pushchairs, straw donkeys, scuba gear, etc. Ultimately it would be even more fair if everyone paid according to the total weight they wished to load onto the plane, including themselves, as most people weigh way more than their luggage and that's what pushes up the fuel bills. Meanwhile, if some airlines play silly beggars with boot bags, the thing to do is put your boots in some other sort of bag, packed with towels, fleeces etc. Maybe, when prices for aviation fuel begin to reflect the damage our travel inflicts on the environment a much tougher regime, with transparent pricing, will seem normal. Meanwhile, we expect to get themselves and our stuff half way round the world for a few bob. It won't last much longer....

abv, It's not new. But what I think you are asking is whether Easyjet enforce the rules they have so clearly published. I would expect so. I haven't travelled Queasy with ski kit in some time but I think the glory days of tipping up with skis & boots in separate bags plus a massive trunk of essentials and getting them checked in for free have long gone.

You could try getting a GOOD boot bag (I have a neat Salomon boot-rucsac) and taking them on hand luggage...or...

Try BA. A better service and cheaper if you get your act together and plan a little in advance.

pam w, I'd like to see them also charge passengers for weight flown. Scales at checkin and compulsory double seats (as has been known in the US) for those who can't fit into one. Why should I at, 63kilos, subsidise some pie eater at 120kgs?

We have experienced one grim flight (which I slept through) where the unpleasant, septic, obese t*sser in the seat next to Lady M kept raising the arm rest because his fat b*tt would not fit into the space allocated. Had I been awake and her ladyship the complaining sort I would have had words.

Hi guys,

Most airlines have 1 boot bag + 1 ski bag equalling one bag: eg boot bags go free with a set of skis. I've just paid for a set of skis to go on an easyjet flight, does that mean I can get my boot bag sent as well without paying for the extra piece of luggage?

if you pay for ski carraige it covers a ski bag and boot bag, if you have not paid for ski carraige you will be charged extra per additional bag (assuming you went for one check-in bag when booking the ticket), all subject ton excess baggage as appropriate

I travelled with Easy jet once before, last year, from Gatwick to Geneva. I had a normal bag to check in containing just my clothes, and my girlfriend checked in her ski bag, containing skis poles boots and everything else she needed (inc hair straighteners blah blah blah!). she had to pre-pay the £15 supplement for the ski bag, but that was fine, and encountered no probs at check-in.

Having recently booked a holiday with Inghams, we noticed their small print said the carriage of anything other tha skis in ski bags is not permitted and the company will not be responsible for any lost items. no probs, as the loss element is covered by insurance, but to say that you can only put skis in a ski bag is completely insane! has anyone else encountered such stupidity from any other travel agent?

I've checked with easy jet, who said that "the general rule is that, when a passenger has paid the sporting (e.g. skiing) equipment fee, he/she is allowed to check in, on top of the 20 kg of the regular hold baggage weight, further 12 kilos. As far as the contents of the skiing bag is concerned, the items that can be included are: skis, ski boots and ski poles. Any other items (e.g. ski jacket, trousers, etc.) need to be placed in a regular hold bag" WTF!?

I really don't want the hassle of taking two bags, one with clothes and one just with a pair of skis and mine and my girlfrind's boots. Apart from the hassle, the extra weight of a second bag will be a few kilos. Has anyone else had this arguement with Easy jet, and did they win?!

Like wot JasonW says... most of my gang last week carried them on board even though boot bags don't fit in the frame. Check in staff seem to accept that they'll fit in the overhead bins so let them on as hand luggage.
