Where I used to live in Berkshire was near the UK Wolf Conservation Trust. I could be walking my dogs down the footpath towards the church at night, with the bats circling us picking off the insects from the hedgerows that we disturbed, listening to the wolves howling at the moon.
They do the walking with the wolves thing, and howling at the moon nights as well if anybody is interested - about one a month surprisingly enough

Have the ESF enlisted the help of the French courts to cull them in case they see them as a threat to their teaching?

They wouldn't need much help from the courts - the French are doing a pretty good job of killing them themselves
