Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@richb67, @andy, @sheffskibod, @surferrosa, you guys are awesome! Honestly, thank you all so much for your time! I took notes from all of them and I'm sure they'll all be appreciated by our group Very Happy
When there is a fresh coat of new snow, everything starts to get easier for sure but that doesn't seem to be in the books for us for next week, so I wanted to see what people had to say considering the current conditions. Thanks again!

Mentioned already I think, but if it's next week, then look out for everyone wearing fluo orange buffs with snowheads logos on them. There'll be about 150 or so of us. Many of whom have been there many times.

The Sella Ronda and its offshoots are very contrasted on and off piste. There is very little tough piste skiing except at Arabba. Most of it is fast cruising across gentle meadows. Without a guide there is very little off piste. With a guide there is amazing off piste but most of it is quite tough to very tough, often spectacularly between rock walls (see first photo - this one joins the Val Mesdi at the bottom - those specks are people down in the valley). Val Mesdi itself is very worth doing. Soon after the start there is a 20 minute walk to get to the start of the actual valley and there is a steep section at the top of it (see second photo), but basically it cuts a spectacular diameter from one side to the other of the Sella Ronda, and is mostly not difficult (other than the start, a just slightly tricky bit near the end)..

Currently in Val Gardena now and has been Blue skies everyday since I arrived on Sunday. The snow making facilities are great so the pistes are covered, but around midday, certain runs will have lots of little mounds of loose snow interspaced with areas of ice so seen a lot of people getting a suprise & falling; myself included today >< On the other hand, the views are great and there is no need to wear extra layers or change the goggle lens.

yes its possile to ski from alta badia to Ortisei or Cortina Tofana, Marmolada, Pozza in a day if you a reasonable intermediate,

https://openskimap.org/#10.23/46.5449/11.8346 might help. Also look at the maps for each area. On the Pralongia plateau you just need to lap it until you achieve escape velocity.

There are buses and taxis but ideally you want to not have to take one over a pass.

Second this openskimap.org for Val Gardena: not sure about the Dolomites map but the map you get in Val Gardena does not label the runs so it can be hard to determine which run you are supposed to do.

As mentioned previously by another Snowhead, following the signs can unexpectedly land yourself on a Black run, and with the current weather, there are a few runs that are already chopped up before midday so it can be quite difficult for beginners & early intermediates.

This is further worsened when the runs gets crowded with everyone going back, which in these past few days has happened as early as 13:00.

There aren't that many blacks..the hardest run I found last year in March was Red 5(?) off the top of Ciampanoi after lunch, which is quite steep with slushy moguls as faces south. Didn't realise that red 6 (?) is a less steep alternative.

There's a tiny black near top of Piz Seteur 2 that is better to take than trying the mess by the Piz Seteur restaurant.

Don't use all the snow up - out there in 4 weeks

After the spring skiing of this coming week...

Had that last week in Ellmau. In January!

Early March *supposedly* generally has the greatest snow depths in the Alps
