Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski holiday costs family of 5

Sunweb has been mentioned - we got a brilliant deal the week before Christmas with them, was only 5 nights / 5 days of skiing but a really good P&V 4 Eh oh! apartment in Flaine with pool etc for £1436 for the 4 of us so definitely would recommend a trawl through their website.

We've found good deals through resort tourist offices too - the best one being Les Contamines at under €700 for a 1 bed cabine (ie bunks in hall) for HT 2020, couldn't get it for HT this year though. I've heard so many dodgy late cancellations etc from both booking and Airbnb so wouldn't touch them.

@Layne, that's a brilliant cost - esp on your accommodation!

Do you drive through so no hotel costs? And eat packed lunches etc?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I don`t know if this would still be applicable as it`s years since we needed to do this, but if you are driving and on a tight budget with children, it`s worth thinking about hiring, or even buying, whatever kit you need in ski shops before you get up to resorts, ie down in the valleys or enroute. It was one of the ways we saved a lot. However, you loose the flexibility of easy changing in resort if the kit isn`t right for you/the snow conditions, and you do need to know what you want and to be able to transport it all along with the rest of your luggage.

We are a family of 5 too and our budget for skiing in Zell am See & Saalbach in February half term is:
Parking at Gatwick £50 (Cophall Parking)
BA flights £550
Pre-booked car hire with Megadrive & excess insurance £240 (booked through Discovercars)
Petrol £70
Hotel with half board & lift passes £3500 (booked through Sunweb)
Pre-booked ski hire £350 (booked through Alpinresorts)
Lunches on the mountain/snacks £550 (estimate)
Food on days of travel x 2 £200 (estimate)
Total: £5500

This is nearly £2000 more than what we spent last year when we drove to La Tzoumaz (Verbier 4 Vallees) and stayed in a self-catering apartment.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.
