Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

The Northern Powderhouse: Allenheads, Raise, Weardale and Yad Moss. 2022 -2023

Decamped from Glencoe car park Friday evening to chase the bluebird down to Weardale. Reports were correct it did ski better than it looked. Stubbly with frozen water ice and molehills adding to the sport. Stayed on F1 as there I didn't have the legs for F2 explorations and one base roughened down M1 run was enough for the day.

Good stuff @skier_of_teesdale. Glad you had fun.

Mrs MA and I spotted you early doors at Glencoe last Friday. We were on the new chair at the time, with you off to our right on The Plateau. Managed to not see you again all day after that!

I was circuiting round the Main Basin t-bar but also off taking photos and socialising. Took 3 days to catch up and ski with Eagles. Wednesday was the pick for snow quality at Glencoe for me. Managed 6 days out of 7 up at the Coe. Had to get down the road Sunday night but was back by Tuesday morning. Just waiting to see what the weekend after next does in the Pennines.

The Met Office have just issued a yellow warning for Thursday and Friday. If this pans out close to recent runs of the Met Office UKV mesoscale model and some NMM runs, somewhere is going to get clobbered - the question is where?

Quote:
Higher elevations of the North Pennines, Southern Uplands, higher parts of the Central Belt and the southern Highlands may see as much as 30 to 40 cm of snow in places. In addition, there is potential for strong winds, which may lead to blizzard conditions and drifting of lying snow.

Birmingham Airport was reported shut on the radio. It was snowing in Manchester when I left and snowing harder and lying on the verges on the outskirts of Bradford when I arrived at work. Hills visible from the M62 were white all the way from Rochdale. Forecast is for it to slowly head north and get heavier.

doesn't look like loads fell at Weardale but the drifted areas and sun are hard to miss out on! (he says trying to persuade himself of not missing out as too busy today!)

@Bergmeister,Looks like she posted on the wrong thread. As she deleted her post, might as well delete the quote to save confusion.

Another good day today. Apparently 250 Members at Weardale and perhaps 150 at Yad Moss. Allendale and Raise also ran today.
According to the Counter in the control box there have been 3,600 Poma departures at Yad Moss over the last two days. If each ski run is an average of 700m then that is 2,500km of skiing since Friday. That’s quite a lot of happiness. Much more again if you add all the kms skied in the other Clubs over the last 2 days.

@Peter S, it was indeed a good day. Great snow and no wind for once, at least not till later on. As I said to you this afternoon many thanks for your efforts.

PS I clocked 36 departures on that poma Very Happy

@Whitegoldsbrother,
Ooh now were you the nice guy at the summit and then I saw you briefly again just as you were leaving down at the queing area? Delighted you had plenty of runs. 36 is lots at YM snowHead It’s so bumpy and tight there aren’t many parts of the runs where you can relax. Many thanks
