Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Newbie here. Great forum. Thanks for letting me join.

We are a family of 5 good intermediate skiiers plannig a trip to Grandvalira. I did Pas 20 years ago and don't remember much of it!!

We live in Valencia and are driving up.

Would be really interested to hear your thoughts about where to stay and hire gear. We are always on a tight budget but are big fans of least hassle options (i.e. not lugging gear around, shorter queues).

I see that you can get a cable car to the slopes from I think Canillo and Encamp. Is that a good option? Or should we be focused on Soldeu or El Tarter? We can also use our car.

Thanks for reading, we would really appreciate any help.

Soldeu or El Tarter give you the best access to the slopes/pistes. They’re pretty much tourist villages too.

You can’t ski back down to Canillo or Encamp. Canillo is touristy. Encamp is pretty much a normal town with a lift up and a few hotels.

Encamp is probably the best bet from a budget point of view. El Tarter/Soldeu for access.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks for your help. Will try to find something in El Tarter or Soldeu.

I’ve written a couple of trip reports for El Tarter, in which I tried to put a lot of useful information.
