Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Found this on a Dutch website here https://www.wintersport.nl/weblog/04/03/2022/drukke-vakantieweken-in-het-wintersportseizoen-20222023
Useful info about total skier numbers in Europe

Glad my local HT is the 11-18th Feb, the 18th-25th week will be mayhem with Paris & German Fasching holidays colliding, few parts of the Alps will avoid the crowds.

Our half term next year is 18th-25th February which looks like the worst possible week, especially with it seemingly colliding with Fasching and Carnival.

Any ideas on the best place to head? I'd love to get to the Dolomites for the first time, but mindful of queues (with German holidays and Carnival). Would other parts of Italy by quieter?

Or are we better off going for 1st-8th April which is our first week of Easter holidays?

Fab thanks, that's helped my panic after recklessly booking the three valleys next year for our first "school holiday" ski trip without checking Paris holidays etc!
I'm my defence we're stuck at home with covid, when we should be skiing this week rolling eyes

Luckily we're the 11th Feb week

Just throwing out there it will be busy in meribel/courchevel etc next half term because it coincides with the world ski cup they are hosting.

Looking ahead to dates for the 2022/23 season…

I assume that the vast majority of the UK will have their Easter break in the first two weeks of April since Easter Sunday is 9th April?

So the 3rd week of April should be lovely and quiet (albeit getting very late in the season…)

Best options for that week ? Not Val/Tignes … just back from a (third) week there and feel we need something new .
Plus it is getting far too expensive .

Italy would be our preferred place (more laid back attitude to skiing than France , lovely food at reasonable prices) - guess that limits us to Cervinia?

Excellent: 1st week of April with teen daughter was a delight this year and looks to be much the same in 2023, and that the NL schools will be off Feb half term week, so a few less on the slopes and road traffic. I am acclimatized to Christmas/NY and Feb half term so frankly anything other than that is wonderful Laughing

11th to 18th Feb for us, me and teen daughter scouring the options. So far we have shortlisted VT, Flaine, Saalbach and Kitz, need to pull trigger soon.

The chap who creates these holiday tables is a Mr Eric Bonnel.

but he seemed to have stopped putting them on his Twitter feed so I got in touch in 2020 and he gave me the link to the Dropbox files…

I have been keeping an occasional eye out for next seasons and I just checked and looks it is now available .

@altis usually starts the new thread each year so I will message him tomorrow and send the file on to post …

Where can I find reliable dates from French half terms 2024?

One place I found says 5th Feb and somewhere else says 11th

This is epic. Thank you. That graphic about numbers is awesome and our last minute booking for the 1st of April is looking like an excellent choice.

The French are mostly past skiing by April. Decathlon is full of camping gear and swimsuits. There are often some Belgians around, but not enough to be a problem!

@Pippo9, Spain; Baquiera or Formigal?
Spain don't do HT school holidays and when people think "Where can I go in the Alps skiing"? then Spain usually gets missed off the list!
Transport is a bit of a drag from Barcelona (3.5hr) but Tolouse only 2.5hr. It can get a bit windy leaving some pistes a bit icy until repaired overnight. On the other hand the food is authentic (+great value) , people are friendly and these 2 resorts have decent skiing (new lifts and 120+km pistes) for a good weeks holiday. If you are there for a dump of snow then the off piste/side piste is awesome. Spain is a bit more family than party but the Manchica at Formigal on a weekend is pretty full-on if you like that sort of thing. If you go to Baquiera then it's Veilha for late night partying.
No ski in/out so if that's your gig then you should head to BC, but your flights will cost a bit more...
Very Happy
