Transfers are leaving from Morzine. Understanding here is the border is open to nationals of third countries to transit home via GVA, if they are holding valid airline tickets. The driver has to have every document known to man to re-enter france! Call them and insist.
Oh, just noticed your more recent post

Well in all this first period of containment (have to say valley road way quieter than this time yesterday), as weather is superb no doubt people will turn to DIY and gardening, but that's probably more dangerous than ski touring and cycling
https://www.bbc.com/news/health-44223165
Think I'll be ok cycling up to the Lautaret, but there's a whole debate going on within the British Cyclists in France FB group getting quite heated as to whether people should be cycling as they might end up in hospital too.
And someone I know who is mountain leader type guide / climbing dude in Pelvoux, said this
I think over the next few days it will be come clear what is accepted as activities near you home, some are saying its a walk round the neighborhood others are go biking or walking as long as you are on you own or with the people you share a house with.
The "share your house bit" is obviously common sense?

Take it easy coming down, no hero stuff. Seems like ski touring may be out after yesterday's accidents. PGHM is going to be patrolling but you'll have to make your own mind up.

@davidof, will be interesting not least to see how many cars are parked up en route up there?
Still not too sure about the whole skinning up the piste and what PGHM's take is but pretty sure they'll view it all the same.
Can currently see two walkers going up, they could just as easily twist their knee in the soft snow as they're not even on snow-shoes.
And repeating myself but road eerily quiet.
Was talking to someone yesterday who was clearing out their chalet op near to us and talking about the decision to stay here, and one forgets that Briancon is home to many medical centres for patients with respiratory problems and allergies http://www.asthme-bpco.fr/ as the air is meant to be so good, the same person talked about a friend who came here with severe asthma and has not had to use their puffa since.

@Weathercam, @davidof, PGHM & CRS in Cham very clear - no high risk/mountain sports: climbing, ski rando and they will be patrolling.
I am going for a run, will see how far I get, & will ask the first gendarme I see, should I see one.

@gvj, Could be a good idea for you to start a new thread so those of you who are confimed to barracks in France (or other countries) could give each other some moral support? I know you're not on FB but you can whatsapp us at any time to have a chat - there are actually a couple of quite funny posts on social media which may give you a bit of light relief......have you seen the sock puppet eating cars on youtube??
Hope to see you asap

Just watching two skinning up the piste in front of me as I type this.
Many of our friends jumped ship over the last few days, some very last minute, and some over 70!
There's a bunch of 30 or so full-time residents we know, though obviously will not be socialising with too much.
Good friends of ours only arrived in here in their campervan on Saturday (I did advise them against coming earlier in the week) and five hours later everything imploded, their plan was to move on after the season finishes and travel to Greece etc, one of them just getting over a knee replacement, whilst Steve who has a season pass and had not skied was hoping to ski for the rest of his time here, but that's all gone pear shaped

@Weathercam, there are lots of threads in Apres, trying to keep chat on different aspects of CV separate - might be worth canning this one as suggested above. Soon there'll be nothing else to talk about, so whilst this thread was a good place to hang out for a while, it's perhaps served its purpose?

@gvj, us too. Changed our minds about leaving and staying here for now. Better views and healthier air. Managed 53 ski days during the season so not too hard done by. Now writing out an attestation so I can go to the shop. Yesterday I audited the stock of booze in the apartment and the cave: 30 beers, 2 wineboxes, 11 bottles of fizz, 8 bottles white wine, 2 bottles of rose, 19 bottles of red, 1 dessert wine. Hopefully that should see us through the next few weeks

Should also add, managed to get the attestation to be as an editable download on my Android phone, I tried a few Adobe PDF edit apps which did not work, and then realised I did not have the official Adobe one, and then it worked, or maybe it was after I downloaded a new pdf which they might have changed

Be aware I'm hearing having a copy on your phone might not be accepted by all, current advice is to have paper version with you.

from l'Equipe,
"The fifteen days of confinement announced by the President of the Republic must be respected to the letter by all citizens, including amateur or professional athletes. I invite you to follow the main injunction: stay at home and not go out, even for training.
For the next 15 days, no exception for professional athletes or those preparing for the Olympic Games.
Staying at home means staying at home. Doing physical activity means going out close to home to stretch your legs in your family unit and reducing the duration of these outings so that you can get home very quickly.

Normally these declarations are a way of just releasing a load of contingency cash.

I've been for a 7/8km walk on the path/road this morning. Also has about 300m of elevation. Was going to go up the walking piste up the mountain tomorrow but think I'll can that. Today's walk every day will at least keep me sane. Hardly anyone around this morning.

The govt. will have the legal powers to requisition services or goods for the medical emergency - but not for other reasons. Shouldn't concern anyone here but obviously there is a big clamp down on individual liberties at the moment (for the common good).
Some skier getting a fine this morning

@andy1234, @davidof, @Claude B, @Weathercam, ...so a pretty small ex pat selection of the usual suspects still here then. Thanks all, and thanks for your input @loatie, et al.
We've spent most of this morning trying to get our eldest son and his girlfriend a flight out of Antigua (they’re professional yacht crew and hence out of www range much of the time) - not easy.
At least the sun is shining so the dog got walked around the fields today.
The D12 across the valley is deserted.
Isn’t that old apocryphal curse meant to have come out of China as well - “May you live in interesting times”?

If I still had my house in UK I'd have probably gone back. I'd like to see my elderly parents but couldn't anyway as they're locked away for 12 weeks. I did have an offer to stay at a friends place near Geneva but in France, a huge pile with loads of land, indoor pool, etc. Regretting turning it down slightly but I'm waiting for things here which may or may not arrive given the position of La Poste.

So I'm still in Chamonix. I was intending to be here until the end of April anyway, so until FCO advice is that I need to get back, I'm happy to wait it out here. It's sunny, there's plenty of good food - and still a few friends around who live here all year.
I've started tidying up my terrace today so I can sit and enjoy the sun a bit more. Quite a few people around here (Cham Sud squares) doing the same.
It is weird though - so quiet! No ski touring etc for me (I have the gear, usually would be up for it - but PGHM are very firm), but I'll do some gentle hikes close by, as the weather is basically perfect for it.

A couple of the tabacs in Cham are selling the attestations - for the cost of printing i.e. 10/15cents.

Everything like tourist offices are closed. Even the mairie. I had to call them to find out what to do with the card for the car park.
On a plus side the post office is reopening 3 mornings a week.
