Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New ski purchase - help me decide!

Long time lurker and first time posting, so first of all hello! I am hoping for some insight... after 10 years of service from my trusty K2 missdemeanours I am finally getting around to treating myself to some new skis and I can’t seem to make a final decision. I have spent ages researching and reading reviews but for such an expensive purchase I don’t want to make the wrong choice.

A little about me: I am female, 5ft5 and around 48 kg. I have been skiing for about 20 years and did more park skiing (in the indoor snow domes) in my teens/early 20s. These days I try to ski for at least a couple of weeks a year and I spend my time all over the mountain. I have been getting more into off piste but nothing too extreme as yet. I do still like to pop into the park every now and then and would say I have a playful skiing style but I can charge when necessary. All the skis I have considered are twin tips as I like to ski switch and prefer that shape. I guess I am hoping to find a ski that I can take all over the mountain, that is fun and can handle a variety of conditions. Unfortunately the budget doesn’t cover more than 1 pair!

I demoed the black crows captis birdies in val d’isere last year and while I enjoyed skiing them I wasn’t blown away especially when I strayed from the groomers. I have also tried the K2 missconducts but didn’t really like them as much as I had hoped. The skis I did really enjoy when I demoed were the faction prodigy 2.0s I had fun and they seemed to handle everything I threw at them. They are the front runners at the moment. I was hoping to try the candide 2.0s for comparison but the shop had none in stock

Welcome to snowHeads.

5'5" and 48kg Shocked. More pies and Guinness needed me thinks Toofy Grin

Check-out the Whitedot Altum 94 in 167cm and mount them with Warden 11 MNC's or Squire 11 ID's.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Definitely try to eat as many pies as possible but always been on the tiny side! Maybe Guinness is the answer. Thanks for the ski suggestion - they look perfect, just a bit trickier to get my hands on. Will get researching Very Happy

@Sheffsnow91, did you try the link in Jon's signature?

@spyderjon, I was reading the blurb about the Altum 114 on your site and it mentioned a 'funting position'. What's that then? Sounds rude.

Quote:
The Whitedot signature tip and tail taper pushes more width into the forefront of the ski which allows for a funting position to make turn initiation easier without sacrificing float and balance in the deep snow.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Ahhh I have now thanks!

Also just noticed @spyderjon you are from the Piste Office in Nottingham - my other half and I brought our skis to you for a service last year! Small world Smile
