@jamescollings, nothing currently open in Chamonix other than at the weekend, but that should change soon - I'd expect it'll all be open from the 14th. The village is quite a bit below the slopes.
I'll be back in Chamonix from the 14th (after the PSB  ) if you want a ski buddy some days. Quite a few other snowheads about too - have a look in the snowbuddy thread, or https://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=149277

I would definitely go and I'd go to Chamonix. Stay somewhere central and you'll have a few more options in the evening. Loads of transfer minibuses from GVA and short transfer keeps life very simple

Well i was made redundant, totally out of the blue a week ago.
I arrived in Tignes yesterday and am staying here for the next 6 weeks.
