Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Disasterous snow conditions in the Southern Alps

rob@rar.org.uk, apparently a ton of powder last night, but the snowline varied a lot - when it was really chucking it down around midnight, at times I could see the lights and slopes well above 2100 metres, at Les Arcs and La Plagne. This morning the temps have dropped, so it must be pretty good above 2200-ish.

Looking forward a few days, for the likes of Val d'Isère, temps on the rise tomorrow, peaking first thing Wednesday with heavy rain forecast to 2200m again. On Thursday though, another day of heavy precipitation, the snowline is between 1100m and 1600m. Longer term, seems to be staying a bit cool.

But with these wildly changing conditions, the forecasters seem to be saying something along the lines of "Conditions variable. Snowline somewhere between 1000m and 3000m. Wind direction anywhere from NW to SW. Possible Foehn later in week. If the Northerlies don't return. Reliable forecasting a touch difficult, but we've got to make something up or we'll look incompetent". Wink

rob@rar.org.uk,

Well, he can tell a good story with the best of them so if he says deep powder, I'll never win from this distance..
Hope he is right and these changeable patterns stay with us until the end of April. That should make the BLAM and EOSB good..!!
Are you going to the EOSB by the way..?

JT, I'm in Les Arcs next week, home for a week, then back to Les Arcs for four days at the same time as the EOSB. I'm hoping to drive across to Val Thorens for at least a day or two to meet up with EOSBers Smile
