There we go, anyone who doesn’t want to be a citizen of the EU is a racist Nazi. That rather sums up your binary approach to most things I suppose.
Anyway, I’m just representing myself.

The best way to deal with arguments you aren’t interested in is to not read them.

Macdonald's sells more "meals" than anywhere else. It doesn't mean that the quality of the meal is good.
So just because SCGB has lots of members compared to snowheads is irrelevant.

I'm going and I enjoy SH bashes - usually the excellent PSB in Tignes and Ski Club Freshtracks hols - the again excellent Premier Party (PP) in Val D'Isere that follows PSB. And I enjoy resort leading in Muerren with fellow alpinists who also like gravity dragging them down a slope.
Interestingly, if you compare the overall cost of PSB and PP, which includes chalet half board and guides every day, they are remarkably similar.

@Gerry, and that's why you and the SCGB has become irrelevant to the sport. Yer just a sad anachronism, a dag to dissolve in the dip of snowsport future. |
Yet the Ski Club remains relevant to its 27,000 members. |
SCGB only has about ~16k paying-members worldwide.

Having been on many Ski Club and SH holidays I can say there is a lot more nonsense coming from SHs about the Ski Club than the other way around. Many of the Ski Club members have never even heard of SHs.
As Colinstone said above, by the time all costs are taken into account the prices we have paid were fairly similar.

So you think snowHeads is best? That's fine, good for you, but it's just your opinion. @colinstone obviously has an informed opinion, not so sure about you.
Anyway, putting aside your 'my favourite colour is better than your favourite colour' commentary, it was claimed that the Ski Club is completely irrelevant, so the fact it has lots of members is obviously proof that such a statement is illinformed to say the least.

@king key, Eh? Seriously? Who talks about Skeeb/SH on a SH or any ski trip?
Every SH trip I've been on, we barely even talk about the SH forum as we're too busy reconnecting and generally having a great time.
The only gripe I have with SCGBrs is that they post on the SH forum fairly regularly and don't even chip-in some funds towards forum running costs. Of course, it's not compulsory but it shows them up a bit IMHO. It's not as though they don't have an alternative.

Yip I'm going and I'm looking forward to meeting people that like skiing and boarding. This petty uniformed knocking of the Ski Club seems to have become the orthodox on this site and is pretty tedious. |
This topic has been widely covered for many years and there are 3 factors at play:
1. SH was born out of SCGB conflict. Being a hater is a tradition.
2. Class wars. Rich (SCGB) vs. poor (SH).
3. Brits love to drag down successful folk. |
Exhibit A

@holidayloverxx, Agreed. Poor choice of words. Of course, I should've have written, "those SCGBrs that post on here quite a bit..etc.". Minor issue anyway.

I quite often mention SH forum to any skier, British or other nationality, I am with. Especially if they have a tech issue, eg boots, or what kit etc etc.
I tell them that industry expert support is first class and other experiences and comments from the membership are worth reading.

London seems a strange place to have an end of season party and would be the last place to celebrate my other sports too including rock climbing, sea kayaking etc. I suspect the Scgb members I’ve enjoyed skiing with (when I was a member) will think likewise and wouldn’t be surprised if those going to the event wouldn’t be my first choice of drinking buddies, but that may because I’m a dour Northener. Now if it was the Office Bar in Argentiere I would be tempted to fly out (May be cheaper than a train to London and hotel too). And since you raised Brexit Gerry you’re talking bollox. I remember you banging on about Turkey’s imminent membership flooding UK with immigrants, typical Brexit lies mongered by merchant bankers trying to make a killing out of lost Northern manufacturing jobs.

It was a great do. Good food, great venue, good live music and reasonably priced drinks for the Capital. Lots of like minded skiers talking skiing and drinking beer. About 150 people so too big a party for the White Haus pub, should satisfy the conspiracy theorists....
Oh and I won second prize in the raffle! Result!!
