Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

David Murdoch, I have been out the East End of London a few times, I lived in London for 7 years and my lungs are alomst clear now. Wink One of my more funnier moments when I lived in London was a bouncer from Brixton Academy that had just tried to deck me - one of the best punches I have taken to be honest - at 22 stone he had never been picked up one handed by the throat before, I thought he was going to faint, Confused instead his heart went into an irregular rythm and we had to get an ambulance..... Shocked we got on quite well after that wee incident.

Oh, I *so* remember this kind of behaviour - I prefer US/Canadian resorts.
There is a *little* 'off' behaviour - I saw a kid push in in a line once - no doubt Martin's comment above was in the US too!
Last year a boarder came way too close to Denise on a green run - but he apologised once I went to have a few words.

In general though it just doesn't seem to happen so much.

PS - love the CESM

On our last skiing holiday, a couple of english teenagers tried to push into the lift queue by scooting down the instructor's channel. They were give short shrift by the liftie and made to go to the back of the line. I got to the top of the run and was just tightening my boots when one of these yobs hopped off the button, then purposely swung it into the back of the head of a middle-aged italian woman who'd just got off before him. Without a second glance back he skiied of to join his mate.

I helped the woman to her feet then skiied down to these lads who were still wetting themselves laughing about what he's done. After giving them two minutes of the hairdrier treatment, I told them that if I caught either of them behaving like that agaiin I'd get their lift passes cancelled.

The following morning, I'm on a chair lift with some folks from our lesson when one of them starts telling us that his son had been verbally abused by some crazy english guy. It soon became apparent that he was talking about me! I pitched in and told him why I'd given his lad a b********g and that I'd do it again if I saw him deliberately endangering other skiers. His reply was that his kids were on holiday and they could do whatever they wanted and it was no concern of mine how they behaved! This left me speechless.

The point I'm trying to make is that it's easy to point to the germans/french/italians for their bad behaviour but the english aren't always blameless either.

Clive, like I said, I had an english lad be very rude to me. And when I was in the BLAM, a bunch of american kids tried to skip the lift queue, whom easiski told off in no uncertain terms.

Kids seem to be getting a bit of a bashing here. They must have had role models somewhere. If you ever see one of my kids beoing rude, disrespectful, or dangerous then please have a go at me. If I'm not there then have a go yourself.

Frosty the Snowman, well said. We've not been blessed with children but I agree totally with what you say. Children learn by example.

crazy_skier_jules, I'd forgotton about that! I hardly even count that as rude - just not allowed!!! Very Happy Very Happy Clive, I'm not surprised you were speechless, and no wonder the kids in question were so awful - what about other peoples' holidays! Well - it's all down to the parents isn't it?? (runs for cover)... Confused

I was on a lift the other day in Les Arcs when some Brits, looking down at a number of Les Arcs Club kids, commented "Cocky little b'tards" and a few other choice remarks, adding that they allegedly skied unacceptably close to tourists, sometimes scaring them into falling over. I weighed a response for a few long seconds, then pointed out that contrary to their claims the trainers would send a kid home if they spotted one doing anything of the sort, that bad behaviour was not tolerated, and in general my experience is that they are pretty well behaved (setting aside over-exuberant queue behaviour at times Evil or Very Mad)

Yes kids get a bad press at times, a small minority giving the rest a bad name, and as you say Frosty the Snowman, we've got a rough idea why they get that way in the first place.... Confused

I once got wiped out by a boarder, I stood up ready to give him a verbal assault only to realise it was the chef from our chalet - as I had to eat his food for the next 3 days I decided to "let him off" and take his apologies nicely!
