Looking at the resort in the back ground I'll say Verbier as it's doesn't look like Meribel which is the only other resort that I think looks like that ... never been to Verbier so probably wrong

Pure stab in the dark on the basis of the cables above the chairlift terminus, is it top of Bellevarde Express in Val d'Isere?

Top of Index? The Aiguille Verte is seen opposite above the clouds?

Actually with the angle I'd say Parsa though - in the Brévent area. Never skied there, the views must be amazing.

Damn Denfinella wins again - it's Aiguilles Rouges opposite, and a Grand Montets pylone foot is seen just on the left side of the pic, innit?

@T Bar can go, since (s)he did all the groundwork!
The shadows also suggested a roughly north facing slope, and there aren't too many chairlifts on that side of Chamonix. Finally, yes you can see the cable car cables.

Can you explain re the shadows and north facing?

In the northern hemisphere the sun in winter is generally in the southeast-to-southwest quadrant of the sky. In the Chamonix photo, the sun is shining on Idris's right side, and also on the uphill-facing sides of the lift pylons. Therefore, uphill must be roughly south, so the slope must face roughly north.
There are a few things that can complicate things - such as a foggy day (no shadows!), or if the photo was taken really early or late in the day (particularly in spring, when the direction of the sun during the longer daylight hours has a much greater range). A clue to early or late photos can be the longer shadow length, combined with the state of the pistes (freshly groomed in the morning, chopped up in the afternoon), so once you know the time of day you can adjust for the different sun direction.
More generally, and I'm sure this is obvious to many, knowing the direction (and direction of relative movement) of the sun is useful when skiing, as you can follow the sun around different slope aspects through the day, to minimise encountering ice or refrozen slush etc. (I'm talking about piste skiing here - I'm sure it's even more important for off piste, but that doesn't apply to me.)
Some ski areas are more affected by this than others - Meribel being a good example where slope aspect is important. In Meribel in spring I might start on the right side of the piste map (east facing, into the morning sun), and end on the left side (west facing, into the afternoon sun). On a really hot day, it would be better to stay at the head of the valley (north facing, so gets the least sun), whereas on a really cold day a long time after fresh snowfall it might be better to aim for south facing (the sunniest) slopes, or failing that, gentler slopes on other aspects.
Sorry, got a bit off-topic there! I think it's Idris's turn.
