Were hoping to run the tow tomorrow although it will be thin typical early season pennine skiing. The ground is pretty wet as you would expect after all that rain last week. Currently minus 3 and low humidity. Forecast is a light northerly wind a perhaps a further dusting of snow. Going a bit milder later in the week.

Expect thin wet grassy snow on a very saturated grassy base with some lightly frozen sticky crud.........and you won't be disappointed.
Bring a sense of humour

Pictures look good today from Raise on their FB page. Plenty of snow and despite all the damage from flooding last week - washed out access road, major landslip in Savage gully, severed power cable etc.......the Members have quickly fixed all these problems and reaped the rewards today. Well done them.

Snow tomorrow and Wednesday night in the Pennines. Fingers crossed it will be enough. Raise already has good cover.

@Peter S, Yad Moss webcams look very bare, lots needed I'd say, but frozen ground I'd say based on how cold it was in Leeds this morning....

@Peter S, they don't seem to have updated the yadmoss website to say "chance of opening"?
I seem to remember they did so last year??

Great skiing over the weekend. Yadmoss is considering running again on Wednesday and probably Raise also, at least one of the mid week days. Really good cover at Raise.
Check out their websites.
Looks like the milder air arrives Friday

Another full day of skiing at Raise yesterday. Yad Moss and Raise have now run 6 days so far so not a bad start to the season. Yad Moss has been wiped out now but Raise retains excellent fence to fence cover on the main run.
Yesterday morning was wet, but persistence paid off and things brightened up in the afternoon. The ski surface improved throughout the day. Another 10 pomas have been added to the line significantly improving uplift capacity.
Sadly we are back to rain, gales and flooding this week. Looking forward to the next cooler and drier...spell.

Heavy snow falling above 2000'. Good direction for Raise which should be operational again soon given the amount of potential snow this week. Yad moss looks more marginal. Watch this space.

Raise are on standby. Hoping to reopen later this week. Potentially quite a bit more snow by tomorrow night and staying cold into next week.

Raise should be operational on Wednesday. Cover looks promising on the webcam.
Not enough at Yad Moss yet, but staying cold and the easterly at the weekend could deliver some showers ?

The front page picture on Fridays The Times was a skier on the lift at Raise followed by their dog with Ullswater below.
Excellent snow up there yesterday. Dry and very cold. Visibility however was often poor.
Yadmoss open today although it will be thin. More snow tonight.

Billb, if you can walk up Helvellyn im sure you would be fine and very welcome at Raise.
Lots of LDSC members in their 70s getting their French passes for free! The legendary Bernie Warriner was skiing well into his 80s and still skiing more days than perhaps any other English resident skier. He was toting 70 plus day seasons, largely up at Raise !

@Peter S, thanks. Although from Preston originally, I'm now about 240 miles from Glenridding so am only up north now and then. I still can't help thinking it must be a lot of effort to lug skis and boots up the hill.

I have to say those photos look to be stretching the definition of 'ski touring' somewhat.
