Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

BA Ski Carraige > 190cm

BA states that permitted ski carriage is up to 190 cm. Has anyone had any issues with longer items than that (or conversely managed to get items longer than 190 cm taken)?. My x-c skis are 196 and I'm somewhat concerned that they wont carry them.

We went last year with Finnair and Monarch (on a package) the year before and it wasn't an issue

I once had a ski bag measured, in Japan when the local staff seemed very keen to reinforce the rules. I was required to pay excess baggage as my case was just 1kg over allowance, and the check-in staff produced a tape measure to ensure my ski bag wasn't too long (they measured it twice, once when it was on the floor and once when it was standing on its end). Fortunately it didn't exceed 190cm so I was able to check it in without any problems.

Never had an issue with length of a ski bag anywhere else, with BA or with any other airline.

 Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@dsoutar,
Mrs M has always got away with it. I've only ever been asked how long the bag is once.

I've always flown BA when skiing, and have never had a ski bag measured for length. In fact I can't even remember having had my ski bag weighed at check in, or oversized baggage drop. For the last 5 years it has been 190 or longer.
