Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Flybe ski carriage - multiple skis...

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
So booked some flybe flights for new year, and then rang up for the ski carriage.

They have a nice generous 20kg allowance for ski equipment, but the chap on the phone said "the rules state that it's ONE pair of skis and ONE pair of poles". Which is a bit annoying, as I have a double bag and normally would take two pairs with me - a piste and a powder ski. I'm planning on putting my ski boots in my normal hold lugagge, so no boot bag.

He did say that if I was under the 20kg they probably wouldn't mind, but it would be up to the staff on the day. I'm expecting my 2 pairs and bag to weigh in around 12kg.

Does anyone have any experience with flybe from Southampton, and whether they are likely to get the hump and try and charge me for the second pair of skis on the day?

Hi Flaming,

We flew with them on a charter at Xmas out of Birmingham and generally carry two sets of skis & poles in a double sport tube. They explained their policy at check in and demanded to look inside and we got hit with a £50 charge which would have been £35 if we'd paid when we booked.

Worth chancing your arm as you could save £35, but, it could cost you £50. You pays your money...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

SnowMonkey69, thanks for that. Were both pairs of skis for one person, or were they skis for two people on one booking?

Ok, thanks. Hoping that as I'm travelling on my own they won't see it as an attempt to get round paying for ski carriage for a second person.
