Snap, horizon. (I should have said, he took both the photos.)

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

horizon, I wasn't saying it wasn't 40 degrees, more lamenting that my photos never seem to look as good as the subject deserves lol.
Cool line though!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

clarky999, no dig at you (in fact my recollection of the first pic that snowball posted is that it was below 40 degrees, but it's been a while).
In my experience photographing up or down a slope makes it look invariably less steep than in reality, and photographing it straight-on from a distance makes it look steeper (probably due to the perspective compression effect of telephoto). Hence I posted the two shots of that other couloir. It's worth mentioning that the guide didn't let us ski the last bit as it was too icy and narrow - he set up a rope and we sideslipped it while holding on to the rope.

Could easily have been a bit less. I just said it could have been as much as 40º. The point was, 60º would look a lot steeper.
(Actually my memory was that the two slopes were not very different.)

That thing over there and I would point to the cable car. I would maybe go the extra mile and point to the base station and say that is where you get on. If they had been polite.
