Another fantastic morning in LP and can confirm that piste conditions are excellent. Once more headed for sunny Champagny slopes but runs into Bellecote and Belle Plagne all in tip top condition. Not a cloud in the sky but very cold today. No queues and quiet pistes - long may it last

A question: I see the blacks off the glacier are now not marked, Are the conditions up there Ok and how easy is it to navigate down the 'ex pistes'?
Thanks

retsil, It is now an unprotected off piste area and is quite large. They do not make it safe from avalanche or anything else so if you go there you should have safety off piste gear. having said that it is still the same mountain and the runs are not to hard to find as many people still do them, but you do need to take care. They will come and get you if you get hurt, but you must have off piste un guided insurance to cover you or it could cost quite a lot.
Hope that helps.

Snowcrazy, thanks for that. I have the gear, so will see what the conditions are like next week.

Snow conditions are great all over the La Plagne bowl, weather isnt quite so good. We have had light snow on and off for about 2 days, accumulations of approx 10 cm in places. Snow conditions are fantastic on piste even down to lower levels. Weather has been low cloud and limited visability all day. In some places visability down to less than 10 meters, even the usual trick of hitting the tree runs down to Les Coches didnt help much. La Tete bar still as lively as ever during happy (3 !) hour.

Sorry to hijack the snow thread, but thought it quicker and easier to get a quick answer.
I'm off to Les Coches 27th March.
Are there any bottle necks, lifts, pistes and mountain restaurants you would avoid in La Plagne area as likely to be busy

Jo225, That is a good find. Sounds like a great idea.
Can't see anything in the conditions.
May be worth a quick email to contact@ski-lesarcs.com

Jo225, I have just emailed them asking:
I would like to purchase some Paradiski passes at the discounted sale price.
Can I start using the ski passes in Les Coches or will they only work starting in Les Arc?

Jo225, I've just received this response:
Quote: |
If you buy an “unlimited Paradiski” ski pass, you don’t need to go first on les Arcs lift.
If you need more informations, please contact us at +33 (0)4.79.04.25.03. from monday to friday from 9 to 12 AM & from 3 to 6 PM.
We hope to see you soon on our Paradiski Area,
|
I therefore think I am going to give it a go.

Jo225, when are you going
It does suggest to leave 15 days for delivery, or suggested they can be collected from Bourg Saint Maurice ticket office.

Llew, ooh, result! Brilliant, thanks!
We're going on 20th March, but we're sharing an apartment with a friend who lives in France, so we're going to get them sent to him (10 days for delivery - should be OK).

Mattmulkeen, I'd start a new thread with that question as being in Chambery they cover a much area than La Plagne and La Plagne threads don't attract may views on snowheads.

I'm thinking of squeezing in a 4th trip this season and going back to La Plagne. Hopefully some more snow will show up before March 21st, I've not booked yet! Can't really afford it but s0d it, I can't bear the thought of waiting til December.

As I've taken the plunge and booked a cheeky week from Sunday, is there anyone who can tell me the word on the street about the weather in La Plagne next week? Conditions seem good but it looks like it could use some fresh snow.
