@Whitegoldsbrother, where did I downplay them? read again where I said they improved my bump skiing!
@rob@rar, not sure who said indoor bumps were "super easy"???
Erm you've lost me there lad

@rob@rar, thanks for the reply. I’ve never been to a dome, so curious as to how they would hold up and what they were like to ski, given the gentler pitch.
Glad you guys all had fun.

@Whitegoldsbrother, me too, no idea what you are on about! But back on track good to see bumps might even tempt me into a summer visit!
@Whitegoldsbrother, InsideOut have it as 2 September on their website, but on Saturday @rob@rar said he thought it would more likely be a weekend towards the back end of September.
Unfortunately there are no further Moguls sessions planned at Hemel this year, but hopefully we will see more session next year during the summer months.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Ah, thats a shame, as said earlier I really enjoyed our trip South. There's moguls at chill this week so will be in there as always.

What's it like in Hemel at this time of year ? I mean I know it's cold and snowy but is it very quiet ? I imagine that the level of skiing is higher in summer as its likely to be keenest skiers that are there.
Although it's a bit of a trek up there from south london I'm keen to visit next month and do an afternoons skiing just to be sliding on snow again. It seems so long since the last season ended and so long till the next one starts

@JohnS4, if you're going for an afternoon's skiing - worth paying for a month's season pass which costs the same as 2hrs skiing (if I remember correctly) then you can ski the rest of the month for free.
If you book for August before the end of July there's a small discount too
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

August booked now is £80.10. 6 hours passes for adults start at £47.70 (£58.50 on a weekend), so it would take a few sessions to make a monthly pass worthwhile.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Ah ok, got it wrong - yep 2 Day-trips per month required to approach breaking even
You know it makes sense.

@JohnS4, It will be busier in the school holidays -- even in August! If you can get there in the morning, the snow is best for the first hour or so... but well worth a trip whatever time of day.

Weird not really clear zipper lines for seeded bumps. Maybe that's the intent to slow people up given gentle gradient.

First indoor bumps of the year for me. Went in after work Friday, thought they were really good so went back today for a couple of hours, wasn’t expecting to have fun as bumps are my nemesis! Nice to see a few Snowheads there too.

There were a couple of lines, but it (frequently) all get a bit odd in the middle! My tele turns are a smidge longer than alpine, so they may have other views..

Sounds great - but Hemel is too far from us. Does Castleford ever have bump sessions?
@stephap, It crossed my mind to go today, but it would not have been fair on Mrs Lawn.
So I just tried to forget about it.
I found myself looking at the webcam at about 7pm this evening.
They looked nicely worn down and quite do-able.
I was surprised not to see much talent there this evening, there was only one skier looking good on them.
Not that I can make it look good
I'm glad you enjoyed them, you should come down to the Hememlays more often
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@DrLawn, It was probably awful by 7pm so you didn’t miss out on anything… I’ve got a few more away days coming up this summer, might even make it to Manchester. Hopefully bump into you again soon!

I have seen them there before. The do have them at Chill.

@Bergmeister, yes they do, currently there now!(From their Facebook page). Moguls are back at Snozone Yorkshire, available to ride from Sunday 21st July through to Tuesday 23rd July. Pics from many years ago

Next bumps session at Hemel is 16th & 17th August. For a flavour of what's on offer, here's a clip from last month
@rob@rar, who is in that vid? You are last man I think?

Not me, I filmed it. The skiers are three friends who teach at Hemel, plus the girlfriend of one of the instructors.

Yeah, nice skiers. Thought it was worth uploading the video to show what you can do indoors in the middle of the summer.

Well they were fun. Right up to the top this time and nicely spaced. Good fun!

Excellent work by The Snow Centre to build the bumps this weekend, the best they've made I think. A few little clips of what's possible to do when skiing indoors in August...
One of my group from Friday, returning to skiing after half a dozen years away from the Alps.
Just got back it was fun. Don't usually go to the dome as it's a bit pricey, £118 for an hour family of 4 plus lunch just to stop kids whinging and the petrol close to £200 for an hour. But it was a good change and nice to see the 8 year old getting into his groove.
Got a chance to wear the new ski jacket too a nice Planks DPM camo pattern jacket I saw on Absolute snow and couldn't resit with them going Into admin a while ago wanted to get one whilst I could

I was surprised at the size of the moguls. The tracks between the bumps had become deep and rutted. By Saturday afternoon I'd say they were stiff red equivalent. The skiers who didn't want the bumps, and were using the area to the side, were making some nice moguls of their own!
