@michaelf, the obvious follow up question I was referring to ..with the answer I would have expected to get
You've changed your tune!!
When I said last week that if I'd asked that follow up question we'd be going round in circles, and you said
"I don't think you would have been going round in circles, the answer would have been a simple yes or no, and that would have been and end to it."
But it clearly isn't a simple yes/no as you suggested it would be - they are not prepared to be that explicit.
Curious to know why you expected one answer last week and a different answer this week?
sorry, I meant i would have expected a simple yes or no if i was going to get an answer I could rely on. I actually did think they would just not answer in which case still not circles, just evidence they are not prepared to be explicit so give up

@eblunt, I was thinking that same thing about the flurry of interest.
Still, if enough people ask, then maybe they will think about doing a specific parents sharing pass!!
In all the answers they have given to everyone that asked, they could very easily have said "Passes are not shareable in any circumstance" and that would have put an end to it.
But they never have said that.
Read into that what we will...
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Would these be the offending camera equipped turnstiles ? They are only on the main access lifts and were changed from the type that are on the rest of the system here a couple of years ago, I think. If that is the camera on that little extra bit, not sure how it gets a decent picture because by the time it knows you are there you are on top of it ?
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@skitow, here is the promo animated video from Skidata which make these turnstiles. A bit naff but explains security measures.
Hmm, naff is probably an understatement Can't say I have seen that many people being blocked here to be honest. They do though have purges and bring extra checkers in. Just to be clear I am just interested in the technology, I have a season pass and would not dream of trying anything dodgy. The lady on the one turnstile has been there for 20 years that I know of, from when we used to have armband passes, and still nods her head to me from the office window so it would be a complete waste of effort. I think the answer with all these things is to just ask. I remember buying our season passes years ago and there was some glitch in the rules regarding discounts for families, had 3 at the time, asked in the office, bit of scurrying about and they came back and gave child prices for 2 and the third one free. ( I think the rules only covered 2+2 families and I was buying as 1 + 3)

@Ozboy, that explains why I've seen people blocked while trying to go through the odd gate in les arcs.
I saw one bloke take his skis off and climb over the barrier. Yet another way to avoid buying a lift pass
After all it is free

Ski barriers often seem to block people, me included. Usually a liftie comes over, checks the pass and opens the gate. I too have seen folk hop over railings to get on lifts, I always thought they were just queue jumping

@johnE, @CaravanSkier, the usual reason for this is because people take to long to go through once the scanner has read their pass and the gate times out and they don’t get a second go.

@Ozboy, Or, you are behind someone who stops as soon as they got through the gate, so when you scan your card you can't get through enough, and it blocks you when you try to get through later when it's clear. I always wait now until there's enough space past the gate to get through completely, before getting my sleeve into scanning range.

@eblunt, yep as takes tricky manouverig trying to back out when skis and boots already gone past but body is blocked.
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

As above, if you have ski pass on glove or front of sleeve, some of the gates pick it up even as you get near them.
Had to move one of my kid's passes from back of glove to hip pocket as they kept getting caught and had to be released by liftie. Made it worse if I tried to assist as my pass flagged, and then locked me out
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much
