It was spring skiing yesterday on the Ahorn (last few runs before our flight). +10 degrees at the Ahorn Ebanwald lift (mid down the home run). Fantastic corn on piste to mess around in. Very Enjoyable.
In need of some new snow but pistes holding up overall.

Knee to waist deep pow everywhere this morning with the sun poking through now and again. Also spent time searching for a lost ski.

Zell arena was perfect today, although the valley run was closed for no apparent reason . Sun was out most of the day which was great. Then caught the 3.10 bus back to the Hof to get the 4pm lift up the Ahorn before the light was gone.

@JimboS, was there still some low hanging fruit to pick in the off piste or was all the easy accessible stuff tracked out

@Mother hucker, I was surprised how much easy accessable stuff was untracked at Zell, I guess just because it was so quiet. I also got some good runs in yesterday at the Hoff still untracked off the Penken down through the trees to the top of the Horberbahn etc.
I didn't do my favourite run yesterday though, "valley of death" as cloud was coming and going and I didn't want to be stuck in a white out. Today would have been ideal for that though. Back up the Penken tomorro so will have another look then.

Well part of it slid off to the grass a couple of weeks ago, maybe it's not open because there isn't enough of a base there yet.

Last day spent up the Penken etc. The weather turned out much better than expected so we attacked Death Valley. The girls found it hard going with the pow so deep but a great end to the week

@VolklAttivaS5, Exactly, girls are used to 20cm of light pow, what we hadwas 50cm of dense pow, easy for me on a board but they found it hard work on skis.
Anywho, another fantastic week at the Hoff.

@JimboS, what sort of temp was it today then?
@VolklAttivaS5, it was already above zero at 9 in the morning at the top of the Penken, so warm for the time of year.

@JimboS, thanks for the updates. Looks like another weather pattern possible this week. Fingers crossed temps don’t get too high! I am out again in a few weeks .

Weather looks pretty severe for Thursday and Friday. Strong winds from the north west. I have been there with strong southerly winds which has closed lots of the lifts in the valley but does anyone have a view of NW winds has a big impact? Any areas in the valley which get less impacted by closures?

It’s been chucking it down since last night and there was a lot of very nice easy pow off the sides of pistes. Snowing in town all day.

I saw on the Zillertal Arena FB page earlier on that there was at least 40cm of snow overnight on the top of the car rooves parked in resort. Belting it down with snow on the video so I suspect there will be plenty of base down now especially with more to come as well.

A lot of wind loading. Anything high and steep would be a serious risk. Another 30-40cm tonight possible. We will ski Kaltenbach tomorrow if weather ok but I think limited off piste given the risk. We skied today within the Horberg area and off piste off the sides only. Full kitted packs. Trees were fun. Visibility poor.

@Mother hucker, tree runs were fine for us two weeks ago, must we plenty fine now.

@Matrix, yes lots of wind loading plus on top of that there’s that weak layer that was mentioned early season in the avalanche bulletins just before Christmas.
@VolklAttivaS5, how much snow on top of the weak layer now? enough to bridge it yet?
