Took my 15 year old to the Livingston drop in this morning and they refused to give him his second as he's only 9 weeks after the first. I pleaded that Ingliston are applying an 8 week gap but they wouldn't budge and said "its the rules"
Hey ho - we go next week and that'll be daily tests and another £150 |
Couldn't you take him to Ingliston then and try there? and maybe only then have to do the first few days of tests?

It's under consideration but the scenes this morning were mad - wife and I had longstanding booster appointments at 8am so we took him along, got there 20 minutes before they even opened and joined the back of a looong queue. Now our arms feel ready to drop off and its all I can do to get out of the sofa. Even if we got him vaxed tomorrow it would only save the second half of the week's pharmacy tests.
Just wanted to give folk the heads up that if under 12 weeks since the first dose, they might have a wasted journey

Did the 120 mile round trip to Edinburgh after school just now and got my other son his second vaccine at exactly 12 weeks - thanks for the heads up about them doing dropins for the 12-15 year olds. I had phoned NHS Tayside earlier today and they are still not offering or gave any timescale.
So if all goes to plan we go a week today so the 'Pass Sanitaire should show him as fully vaccinated - will need to check the Swiss element of that. Off to book our tests and carpark. Feeling much more positive now (not Covid positive). |
Congrats! My son’s QR code arrived on his online account the next day - scanned into TAC and the message says it will be valid from 19/12, exactly a week post second jab.

What were the cues like at Ingliston? No issue with being out-of-towners?
I waited in the phone cue to speak to Tayside on and off for over an hour yesterday and didnt get through and Mrs C asked in town when she was getting her booster and got the same advice as you - No and we don't know when

@RichieC43
Queue was fine at Ingliston - we arrived 5pm in car park where they have parking attendants and then walked to centre, no queue outside - details taken (I didn't mention being out of towners just in case and they didn't either), told to go into queue A (looked to be all second dosers - boosters were in a different section), there were queuing seats we were about 15 minutes wait there. The vaccinator mentioned that he was exactly 12 weeks. 15 minutes afterwards wait so in all we were 50 minutes from parking to back in car.
They were very organised and so much more spacious than Dundee centre, and having seats to queue for everyone and toilets was much more civilised.
My only concern now is this vaccine isn't yet showing on the nhs inform scotland website which I'm sure happened the next day for my other son from Dundee vaccine centre. I will check back later.

Still no sign of Sunday’s vaccinations on my linked GP app data feed. Getting a bit worried now, phoned the help desk and they said it’s 21 days before anyone would look into it. Would be such a shame to have managed to double vac both boys and not have the means to show it (to the pharmacist at Val D who can convert to a pass Sanitaire)

Asking for a friend
Does anyone know if the pharmacy who are happy to convert passes will give a QR code for a 13 year old who has recent NHS proof of a positive PCR test as that is one of the ways one can use a pass sanitaire?

That makes me feel much better, thank you! Hopefully it’s just a case of the large number of vaccinations taking place leading to some delays on syncing up the various systems

Trying to sort this out for our eldest is about as pleasant an experience as falling down a flight of stairs. 6 times through 119 to get an answer, and the answer was generally nope. Back to App to get him added in, to find out I have 24h to get it sorted through the GP bureaucracy or I can't get him on my App.

@ma94jcg, Interestingly, i have applied for the vaccination letter, and you have an option to request an email if they are unable to issue the letter. For my eldest, who was jabbed on Sunday, I haven't had an email to the contrary.
For my youngest, who is being second jabbed tomorrow, I applied today, and got an instantaneous rejection email, so perhaps there is another system that is aware of the vaccination status.

We are planning to be in St Gervais for Xmas and emailed the Pharmacies in town to try and get some clarity for a single jab and covid recovery and received this reply:
Hello
We can create a "pass sanitaire" with QR code (can be validated due to infection + a dose of vaccine)
For this we need a certificate of vaccination (date of injection, the brand of the vaccine, the batch number, ...), a certificate of postive test (already provided), a copy identity document and your adress + phone number.
This creation of "pass sanitaire" costs 36 euros.
You can send us all the documents by email and collect the documents at the pharmacy.
We remain available for any questions
Regards
In terms of the certificate of positive test all I sent them was a screen shot of the text from track and trace saying she had tested positive. Very happy to now have a resolution other than daily testing! Hope it helps....

@Richard_Sideways, but the GP surgery did make it work - quick dash down there and we now have both small sideways linked to our NHS apps showing +ve PCRs in October. Persevere folks and it can work! Whether or not that'll be enough for travel remains to be seen but hey ho!
@Fast_ted, that's good to know if other places in France would do the same - @Paula bodes well for SFaB at Easter if that comes off!

So 12-15 year olds can get 2nd jab now. Good news for feb - We just need a rather long odds confluence of 2nd jab, omnicron not causing the feared issues for health systems across europe and the NHS app being available for the teens........

We’ve tried every number and booking system we can find to book tests in Val Thorens next week for three teenagers but to no avail. Is anybody in the resort and able to offer a definitive answer as to how to book tests and where they managed to get them from please?? We’re supposed to fly out Monday. Can’t see that happening if we can’t get tests. Holiday company seem none the wiser too.

The ability for 12-15s to come to Austria nationwide has been announced at a press conference this morning, from Tiroler Tagezeitung
Quote: |
The “Ninja Pass” is now a tried and tested corona test pass for schoolchildren in Austria. The tests are taken in the school, the pass is valid as proof of entry for all areas where children and young people are required to present a negative test result.
▶ ️ Now it is being expanded as a “Holiday Ninja Pass” as well as proof of school-free time - both for Austrian school-age young people and for school-age holiday guests from abroad aged 12 to 15 years .
▶ ️ Tourism Minister Elisabeth Köstinger said in the press conference on the Ninja Pass during the holidays:
“The 2G rule currently applies in Austria, which requires proof of proof from all persons over the age of 12. However, this requirement cannot be met for all families from abroad, as different vaccination rules apply in other countries and many young people are not or only partially vaccinated. Under these conditions, many would have decided against a winter holiday in Austria. With the Holiday-Ninja-Pass, an officially recognized 2G certificate in Austria can be provided even without a complete vaccination or proof of recovery. "
▶ ️ The Holiday Ninja Pass is equivalent to 2G proof if:
Valid negative test evidence is always available from day 1 to day 5;
basically at least 2 tests of which are PCR tests;
All official test certificates are attached to the Holiday Ninja Pass in paper form or digitally and a valid photo ID is carried. |

@Chris_n, I've noticed that the ninja holiday pass doesn't cover all 15 year olds - only those who were born after 1 September 2006. I've contacted the Austrian embassy and Crystal (who we are booked with) and am keeping all fingers crossed that the authorities will do something for this group of 15 year olds. I don't think that its the Austrian authorities intention to exclude this group, so hopefully, they will clarify the situation soon.
Having gone through hoops to get my children sorted for skiing in France only to have to do it all again for Austria, this could be the point at which we throw in the towel.

Gutted that we left our 12yo until last weekend to get his first jab - half term is our next window of opportunity but unless there’s some. If shake-up of when teens can get vaxxed, I expect we’ll be hamstrung by countries that allow a single vaxxed child in. I live in hope that come the end of January, things may have calmed down somewhat and there’s a more measured approach to entry for kids, especially with HT visitors being so important to tourism
|
|
|
|
|
|
@Specialman, as sit stands, your 12 year old can visit Austria under the Ninja holiday pass. I think that its officially covering the Austrian holidays, but I would expect it to continue as long as they want British tourism. Testing is a pain, but I understand that its really easy even for PCR tests (my 14 year old was there in October and the antigen testing was free and really slick).

If you are in England the nhs app is not available to under 16’s. You can link their profile to yours by requesting your gp to do so…you only get access to basic info, you do not get a qr code to confirm if they have been vaccinated. To prove vaccination status you can get a formal letter by applying online or via 119 and they will post it to you, this letter includes a qr code to use for travel.
|
|

@rachelharrisonsmith, the reason behind the date is the Ninja Pass is for children in compulsory school. To be honest I hadn't even noticed that as it doesn't really affect me, my 'children' and even grandchild are older than that . I do hope you are successful in your communication with the Embassy and can get sorted out.
